OGH + CAC = $$$$$

Are you seeing folks now buying both the holder (OGH) and sticker (CAC) ?
I am.
Been looking at some Saints in higher-grades and the prices for some MS-65 and MS-66 coins with both OGH and CAC are really up there. I'm seeing MS-66's WAY more $$$ than some MS-67's !!! I'm not talking rarities....I'm talking mid-1920's common Saints and even 1908 NMs.
Are you seeing this with your gold or non-gold coins ?

Yes. Old holders are hot and with a sticker even hotter.

The percentage success rate of cac with gold MS65 coins is quite low, so the premium is often substantial on all the gold coins. I don't think I received a single cac sticker on an MS65 coin. Then you have the old holders and the perception of conservative grading with them.
There was another thread concerning this.
I 100% see it across all series.
Glad I purchased some 10 years ago.
It’s not just OGH but rattlers, too!
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

Unless you sell them.on the BST and then no one wants to pay a premium.
To get the most have to go to auction otherwise everyone just wants to beat you up
Common but less so with that special combo.
There are 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who do not.
I've been seeing that for a while now. I am trying to put together a set of stickered doilys and get out bid almost every week. $$$$$

I like green on green and believe it will pay off when it comes time to unload later on down the road.
Whether it be a common coin such as this...
Or, one of higher value, such as this...
Final results will still bring a premium for said coin/grade IMO
Not quite OGH but this PCGS XF-45 and CAC 1875-P T$ just sold for more than AU-58 $$$

I know this isn’t green on green, but these seem to be commanding an elevated premium too.
I just saw on social media that some user wants $450 for a common date Morgan in PCGS MS64 rattler w/ cac green bean.
A number of them are asking over $400. There is a lot of money out there chasing holders and coins. Just saw Seth, at Witter, post a video showing he has 24 double row slab boxes of just gold CAC slabs. That is an incredible number of slabs to be hoarding for his collection.

What am I missing regarding the SB comp? Quite a result!

That IS green on green.
And very nice, I must say.
It's roughly 3-4x what one might expect a similar to coin to fetch.

Okay cool that's what I thought. Any clue as to why it sold for that much?

It is a trend and price keep going up and up more, I have this 1967 50c SMS. Last auction on great collections, it went $400. In modern holder, this coin would not go this much.
Maybe somebody mistook it for the much scarcer FS-801 instead of the FS-802 due to the use of TDV #s instead of FS #s?
Or somebody misread or misunderstood the pop report because there are several different PCGS spec #s for the same variety? There are three chopped 58s and one 61 that are variety attributed but those 4 coins show up spread across three different spec #s.
Or somebody fell in love with the coin?
I can certainly understand overexuberance but there needed be two bidders to get that coin that high. I know most of the very strong bidders for chopped t$ varieties; one has a 58, I just sold another my old 58, and I have the 61. I'm extremely encouraged that the market is deeper and stronger than I previously thought!

Back in the day collectors were into coins. These days many are into stickers and the plastic slabs. The actual coin, not so much. It's a crazy world. RGDS!
The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.
BOOMIN!™
Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
Retiring at 55, what day is today?
Prices are high.
These OGH + CAC are crazy
Then if you have a gold CAC, Look out.
Rattlers 1080xxx s/n are $10K
Rattlers 108Xxxx are $1K+
Type coins in Rattlers are 3-4 times retail at least
Silver Eagle $1 in Rattlers are $1k+
PCGS Doilies labels start at $500 plus coin
Early NGC slabs are Crazy
Out of Business holders, Prices are way up'
Just common dated coins in PCGS the prices are double.
The list goes on & on.
I don't have too many of these holders but I have been collecting them for 20 years now.
*
I have quite a few gold coins in Old Green Holders, some CAC. For me, that is the most visually appealing combination of coin and holder. The white NGC holders look discordant to me with certain coins. Potential resale value isn't everything to me.

He 'aint getting it.
He'll have to settle for $400.
Wow...so the less-expensive, cheaper coins where there is more affordability.... you are actually seeing that kind of boost in price ??
In the Saint arena, I was seeing a 15-25% boost in price for coins in the $5,000 range and up.
Yes buyers really going after them.
To some extent, yes, but I would view that result as an outlier. I only brought it up because it was such a large outlier.

Yes no doubt - expect to pay the money.
