The start of my 1908 specimen set. The first coins struck in Canada as the boxes that they came in advertised. They tend to come dark, this is no exception, but it comes alive in the light. This is a 64, which is a pop 16 with only 1 higher (which is a 64+). PCGS and NGC aren't going to grade these 65 and above it seems, but I imagine ICCS would have this at 66.

1984 Lincoln Cent
Doubled Die Obverse
Double Struck
Second Strike 75% Off-Center
This 1984 Lincoln cent obverse doubled die is one of the FS-102 varieties and features distinct doubling on the date, LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. Wexler’s Die Varieties lists this as 1984 1¢ WDDO-005 “Best Of” Variety and it is also cataloged in The Cherrypickers’ Guide as FS- 01-1984-102 (038).

This 1885 IHC has deep luster and a rosie red and magenta obverse with an incredibly red reverse. In hand, the surfaces are nearly mark free. All the annoying scratches are on the holder.
The S mint Lincoln cents of the later teens & early-mid twenties are notorious for their poor strikes & other issues. This coin is a notable exception, with only very slight strike weakness in the upper left rev quadrant. Exceptional eye appeal & color, too, along with the CAC add.

Hi Ken.
Thanks for the compliment. It is the first known doubled die that was double struck.
New discoveries are exciting.
Many find their way to me by themselves. But I also search for unique and spectacular mint errors through my website, and magazine (Mint Error News). Fortunately I only need to attend the ANA, FUN, Long Beach and PCGS shows.

This is super cool! The other day I was idly wondering how many dual variety/error coins there are out there. Seems like it would be an extremely rare occurrence.

As of now, it’s unique. It was authenticated at PCGS years ago. I just purchased it and it is finally receiving the attention that it deserves. It is currently the featured coin on the CoinWeek website and will be an article in CoinWorld.

Really nice looking Lincoln Ken. You have to appreciate the early issues, as they were used so extensively in the teens and twenties. Low survival rates on so many of these early Lincolns. Congrats, Zack.
This coin is certified by ICG as a fake (Counterfeit). I bought it on the form but do not know why it is a fake. I like it, and it will go well my ICG certified Henning nickels.

I like the eagle a lot. However, the obverse is one reason why I only have a dozen or so commems and will never attempt to try for the full set. Also, the theme is another reason. Bridgeport, really?

Posted in another thread, but for those that didn’t see this, my new addition.

I wish the mint would do a modern commemerative release with that powerful eagle.
A beautiful coin.

Was lucky enough to find this little beauty last week for my type set.

An upgrade for my $2.50 set. Just another low mintage 1880's $2.50 issue.
This MS 62 replaces an AU 55 in my Registry set that I purchased raw with a ANACS photo certificate in April 2004.
Now I am reluctant to sell the AU 55 as it was the first $2.50 I ever purchased and was the coin which ignited my interest in these petite gold coins.
