I picked up a clean 73T Reggie to complement the Match Print "proof" photo that Topps produced for the card - these types of proofs are not cheap to produce considering the frugality exercised by Topps in producing nickel - dime packs of cards.
Match print (color proof): a high-quality prepress photo used by the printer to verify color, contrast, and cropping before final production. Essentially the target image the card was meant to match—produced in very limited numbers and not intended for public release.

Another #1 card to add to my childhood sets project 1976-85. 10 years of collecting as a kid.. Only 1 HOFer on the front and 4 on back.. The 85 Topps Fisk in a centered 9 might be the toughest of them all.

I just grabbed this group of OPC cards. The Santo is very nice (and nicely centered) for a PSA 7. The Aaron is my first 1960’s OPC card. The only difference from Topps is a deeper pink back (Topps is more of a salmon) and the notation “Ptd. In Canada”. OPC did not start bilingual card backs until 1970 when Canada law required items produced in Canada to be bilingual. The Fisk card butts up close to the end of my collecting focus (1979). It’s actually the first non-qualifier PSA 9 in my collection.

Oh' they've done worse. The same portrait photo of Hank Aaron for 1954-55-56. Granted, he wasn't quite the superstar at that time but they could have treated him better in 1968-69.

Also, Topps used photographs of Bazooka panels/cards for ‘62 Topps Gibson and ‘62 Topps Frank Robinson or vice versa. There may be others…but Topps camera men were not out in the field every year to capture every player.

I wasn't looking for a Munson RC, but when a nice one turns up for a decent price, I couldn't help myself. I know this topic has already been discussed, but what are the main reasons he isn't in the HOF? Short career?
short career is generally considered the primary factor. there's a chance that the waiving of his waiting period for induction hurt his overall chances. the loudest voices tend to point to his career numbers overall, and while there's some merit to that, it generally devolves into some rather arbitrary consideration or juxtaposition. I look forward to the coming debate. I expect nothing but greatness.
My all time favorite player. Super clutch-look at his 1976 World Series stats. Munson was the heart and soul of the great Yankee teams from 76-78. He was loved by his coaches, players, and fans.
Not even a Yankee fan but a kid of the 70s and Munson will always be one of my favorite players of all time. The guy was so cool and just a winner.
Put him in the Hall!
If I had the juice there are about 100 more players I'd put in the Hall that played in the 60s/70s/80s. It's way too restrictive.
I'm a big Munson fan (see my avatar pic which is from the '70 Topps card). Definitely the victim of a short career as far as the HOF is concerned

I won this last night. In his prime the Goose was one of the top closers in MLB and is in the Hall of Fame.
That's a really sweet centering for a 79.
fun fact. Aaron Gossage - Goose's cousin's grandson is a professional disc golfer with one of the best forehands on tour... must be a shoulder gene.

One of the most fun rips of my life was a 79-80 OPC box.
I did get a PSA 8.5 Gretzky also. This one I never graded and I kept the set raw.
I hope you rip it and catch some blazers.

Can't argue with that assessment. Exceptional. Very nice acquisition.
This could be the finest PSA 8 76 Ryan I have ever seen! This would not look out of place in a 9 holder but if it was then I wouldn’t own it..

Was there competition due to the centering?
We're in the golden age of PSA 8s that present as 10s. Take advantage before there's objectivity in grading for sure.

Yes Mike I feel there was lots of eyes on it because the centering and print is very clean too, which is also hard to find on the 76 Ryan. They had one of the nicest 77 Ryans in an 8 too. Unfortunatly they ended at the same time and I couldn't afford both.
