I've been working on a 63F set since 2004 I believe - I often forget to look and it's gonna cost me since this card is tough to find centered and I never picked up the Koufax - last card needed - and it's inflated over the past 5 or 6 years.
New pickup - PS: came and looks better than the scan they used - this is the new scan
This is first graded example for this card. It has no creases, it has no alterations and it also has no explanation; despite paying for a level that affords the submitter ‘grader notes’, there were none provided so I have no way of knowing why it wasn’t assigned a numeric grade. There is nothing quite like paying for Express and getting bulk service. 😉

I believe when you pay for a service and its not delivered that may very well meet the legal requirement for fraud?

Makes sense, I’m not afraid of anything that is in my back pocket, either.

I really enjoy your posts. I've never been a big Mantle guy but learn so much about all the things out there from what you put up. Just so many cool things I'd never know about if you didn't keep posting them. Thanks.

That means a great deal to me; more than you know.

In regard to the back of the piece. Note it states "Area code" with the zip code number thereafter. Maybe should of stated Zip code.
Nice item regardless.

So, the original owner did that stamp on all 12 cards in the set. It’s somewhat forgivable as ZIP Codes were still a relatively new thing at that time. And since it was a stamp, I’m guessing ol’ Walter probably didn’t want to throw it out….😂

Grades Popped after 6 months and 2 days and I got murdered.
Cards came back 3, 4, and 5 grades lower than they should.
9s with a shot at a 10 got 4's and 5's. Yeah, right.
Sure, it's possible I missed something on 1, maybe 2 cards, but all of them?
Funny how this coincidentally happened after my battles with PSA about their mislabeling of the Hostess Twinkies Panels and not grading a cataloged card issue.
Below are highlights of properly graded cards from this sub:
No real blockbusters but I grabbed the Gilliam at a good price and to me '53s look good even in lower grade. Stallcup was a two grade upgrade and CENTERED. Can pass that up.

Thanks! Here’s a picture of the back - there’s a spot of some kind between Height and Home.
I can’t find any creasing or wrinkling anywhere on the card.
You can’t see it in the picture, but there are faint rubber band marks around the center of the card and what looks to be some light wax on the front near his hat.
Like I said, I’m thrilled - it presents much nicer than the average 3.
Looks like that dot on the back in fact is what knocked it down. Really nice card, you got a keeper there. Congrats
There are several gash marks on the front surface of the Mantle which affects the presentation by damaging the color. Technically, it would be considered paper loss, especially on a Mantle that historically gets extra scrutiny anyways. The spot on the back isn't such a big deal, were eye appeal a key element here, then the gash marks would be the culprit. Without those flaws the card would be a 6 or 6.5, I think.

Is that a clear baggie on the back of the card? Or just glare from the photo? Seems to fit in the holder, not sure why PSA would add a bag.
And I've been picking up some raw Japanese Ohtani cards. We'll see how these pan out in person. Shoulda prolly considered picking these up in October in when they were 1/3 of the price. So it goes. Still sweet cards.

The ‘gash marks’ are print defects and not scuffs or paper loss. Whatever the reason for the technical grade, I’m still thrilled to have picked up such a nice 3.

It’s sealed within the case. Not sure why PSA uses it. I’m not certain but it doesn’t seem to be used for all 1956 Topps.

Tough black lines make these '69's difficult to sticker for centering ....
And a MBA - Gold! Congrats…

I can never have too many of these babies 🥳

great looking late eighties topps football cards. makes me want to maybe buy some late eighties football sets.
Two for my set, and one for my kid.

This re-holder took over 4 months..... Personally, I think they lost it.... pop. 20 of the Yaz.

Nice Skenes pull, Chris!
Thanks. I didn't pull the Skenes. I bought it already graded. Hopefully it increases in value.
Tough to get MBA gold on this issue.... Not my first MBA rodeo with this RC. But the last for sure.
PSA HOF Baseball Postwar Rookies Set Registry- (Currently 80.16% Complete)

My son just pulled this from a $7 fat pack from Wal Mart.
😎
Super happy to pick this one up as 68 OPC hockey in PSA 8 or higher are super tough, especially a key rookie!
Bought this RAW off Ebay and now graded
Couple more. Jonathan Ogden. What a great LT. I like finding vintage like the Matson. Shows nicely without breaking the bank. 😄

I had to see for myself what all this Gem Mint slab junk modern hubbub is all about.

Chipping away at my Aaron run. These put me past the halfway mark. 14 down. 10 to go!

Well, now I've seen everything. An Ohtani card with him pitching through a rainstorm of Skittles.
When 79's are nice they are sweet. I just wish PSA would not use the 55 point wells for a 20 point card!
