Thanks for the kudos on the '99-S. Here is another toughie from 2026 Winter FUN. The colors are kind of like pastel in patches and streaks across the coin. Very beautiful and unique.

Just received my first two newps of 2026, and now I can show off my reasonably priced 20th century Barber types! The quarter and half are the new ones, and I’m in love with the quarter. The half also punches above its weight with lots of luster in hand.

Thanks! These have been the most fun finding for my 20th century type set. Filling out all of the modern coins has been fun, but the Barbers just seem to have a certain je ne sais quoi, non?

Great look. I have had similar luck when purchasing ICG holders. Congrats.
I was not surprised at the CAC sticker-worthiness for the '93-P dime either Jim.
ICG Conversions - What is your best?
My best overall ICG conversion I believe was this 1897-O Barber Half from an ICG AU50 to an XF45 CAC by PCGS: 45893928. I was looking around on Gold Standard Auctions back at that time and found this specimen May 9. 2022 for $1,338 when including BP, shipping, grading conversion, CAC stickering, etc..

"1896-S Half Dollar PCGS AU58 CAC
Reflective and Colorful, CAC
1896-S 50C AU58 PCGS. CAC.
This near-Mint Barber half is a colorful piece with semireflective fields that suggest an early strike from freshly polished dies. Vibrant splashes of plum, marmalade and iridescent aquamarine complement the lustrous devices to complete wonderful eye appeal. The strike is bold save for typical softness on the talons, fletchings and the upper right corner of the shield. A couple of small ticks on Liberty's cheek are noted, with the fields showing grade-consistent marks. Mint State pieces are conditionally scarce.(Registry values: N991)

@Rule556 Nice pictures. I assume you take them yourself and Photoshop to show obv/rev with holder-note? what is your set-up like?
Yes, I’m a life long hobbyist travel and wildlife photographer, but have never done macro work before and I’m learning.
Canon R6mkii and a EF 180mm f/3.5L macro, mounted on a copy stand. I have two cheap Amazon LED panels that I mount axially just above the opening of my lens hood. I’m still working on exposure settings and general workflow.
I just shot my whole collection and am compositing them in Photoshop. I use Lightroom for image editing.
This round I realized that I should change the focal distance for each denomination instead of taking them all optimized for dollars. My pennies and dimes suffer a bit in resolution because of it.
I’m learning. 😉
I’m pretty happy with the colors on the quarter. I should have rotated the coin a bit to optimize cartwheel highlights, but the color detail almost matches the CACG photos.

I see you are missing from a possible trio, like me, the Barber dime. Unfortunately it is one of the most overvalued dates in the series. A while ago I posted a string along the lines that Barbers are not always correctly valued. I used the example of MS66 1905-O and 1905-S dimes. Since then the 1905-O dropped $250 two times to $2,500 and just went back up to $2,750. The 1905-S remained the same during this period at $1,650. The MS 66 populations are 19+6 and 9+4 respectively. CAC puts the population of the MS 66 "O" at 10 and the "S" at 5. There are also more 1905-Os in MS67 (5+3) than 1905-S (4+1).
Here is a raw newp from my LCS this afternoon... a Type I Obverse mated to a Type II Reverse. You can't see it in the pictures but the surfaces are slightly glossy indicating there was an older (toned over a bit) past cleaning. It was a little hard to tell until I removed it from the 2x2 holder to get a closer look. As you can see digitally, it isn't bad at all.

At CSNS in April 2022, when I was at Liz Coggan's table, I was in the process of picking up my CAC'd 1896-O Barber Half in PC58 (previously obtained from auction with her help) and also purchasing my 1897-S CAC'd PC58 Half Dollar (was Liz's coin at the time but originally Tipsico Al got it out of a regional-local show in Seattle). In the melee (ruckus), I was showing Liz my other previously purchased ANA auction Gasvoda-provenance coins and somehow I ended up selling my 1903-P Barber Half to a Wisconsin collector who walked up to the table. I regretted it afterwards so I am very happy for winning JeffMTampa's '03-P with CAC sticker here last month (which was slightly better anyways):
