Was cleaning out the closet …
…and came upon a bunch of coins that I thought were lost forever and one I had completely forgotten about. Hadn’t seen them since we moved 7 years ago.

Completely forgot I bought this years ago

Awesome Trade Dollar!
That's what I'd like to know! If it's a legit Philly issue, that's a heck of a closet find.
Are we polling to guess which coin you completely forgot about? My guess is that sweet trade dollar at the end.

Your guess is as good as mine. If it’s real, it’s worth a fortune. If it’s not, the holder is
That would be like you or me losing pocket change in the couch.
I paid $800 for a PCGS holder that says 75-P Chopmarked. No comment on the coin😂
An undisputed real one like that? $10k+.

I would like to hang out in your closet
Seems like the last time I read about you finding coins in your closet you had a bunch of odd ball stuff including an 1876 double dime.
I agree that a true 75-P chop of that condition is a $10k coin. So damn rare - in 20 years of looking this was as close as I could find
Did you find any lost 1804 Dollars?
Nice treasure!

@tradedollarnut, Bruce, what’s the significance of the 1950 Proof coins?

I think I bought them at a local show just because they were rattlers
Ha! My wife wanted half of my home office closet so I was just cleaning out space
Scary that you had coins you totally forgot about. Same here. It happens to most of us.
By the way, at least you made sure your fingernails are not dirty!
True! But not of that magnitude of course.
I was thrilled to come across a nice AU ‘29S walker that I had in an old album, found when I was going through boxes to assess what junk and bullion silver I had.
Dang! Does the back of that closet lead to Narnia? Quite the treasure! Absolutely love the Trade Dollars...

True. Somewhere in there is the box containing four of the first five trade dollars ever struck.
I understand this completely. I was cleaning out my closet and found my Ferrari GTO that I misplaced years ago.
Where can I get one of those closets? Sweet!

I'm thinking other responsibiities, kids and wife, business and work, were "top of mind", economics were not a big issue.
I remember that group, with the original Mint letter! Amazing.
Love that sudden find, thanks for sharing !
I was told that my grandmother hid cash in all her coats and pant pockets. That way no matter what she was wearing she would always have cash on her. Must have been "The Greatest Generation" things to do.
