    An 1804 $ and 1794 flowing hair dollar both in choice mint state.

    Edit to add: I love my own set and I’m not greedy but $3 million would likely buy me the Forsythe Walker set, if I were so inclined..

    I would buy CH AU 1799 lgc, a choice MS chain cent, UNC 1796 quarter and dime, 1802 Half dime, 1823/2 quarter, 1873 cc No arrows quarter, 1853 no arrows half 1878-s half, 1794 dollar for starters then maybe 1854-o or 56-o $20. 1870-cc $10 or $20

    Define "windfall". If it was The Lottery a few weeks ago for $1.8B... even taking the cash payout and after taxes you'd end up with around $500M or so? Some dude in Arkansas could have a heck of a coin collection if he so desired...

    A really nice $50 gold slug with all of the wording visible around the outside of the obverse and nice edges with no bumps.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible.     Mistakes are natural. But repeated mistakes without reflection are something else. That may be the “stupidity” he was referring to. In research, he admitted uncertainty openly. “If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?” This shows humility. Even a Nobel laureate accepted doubt. That humility makes the quote less cynical and more observational.

    How big of a windfall? If 9-10 figures or more I’d try to assemble the finest known complete set of antebellum U.S, coins including proofs and major varieties.
