Last month I bought a vintage JM 100 ounce bar at spot for $4900 and I thought I was crazy. What was your last silver buy?

A stamped 1oz silver round from Coos Bay, OR. I paid nearly double spot at the time... $85, so I'm pretty close to even.

They're pretty rare, it was to commemorate their 100 year anniversary in 1974.
.
Some Monarch Legos, random 90% dimes, quarters and a Morgan dollar money clip.
I recently snagged two $5 FV rolls of Barber Dimes.
COPPER is gutter !

Loaded up at a middle of nowhere pawn while on vacation this week with lots of 90% around 30-40x face and some rounds/ASEs/Maples at 48-56/ea range.
A US Mint ASE at a screaming FULL retail markup!
3 rolls of BU 1964 Kennedys (1 in original roll Pittsburgh branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland) 11/28 for $975.
Prior to that the Proof ASE USMC privy back on 11/10. Should finally have this GEM tomorrow. Just processed through The Burgh. RGDS!

Yup.
I knew it would happen.
Someone said if you wanted something for Christmas and didn't get it...buy it now when it's on sale
doesn't work on bullion unless you can find it in a different category.
Capital One Credit Card has a 9.5% rewards credit on eBay
A roll of ASEs in March '23 for $27.31 each delivered.
I picked out 8 to send to PCGS... 7 of them made MS70.
I bought a Towle sterling serving fork at a yard sale about 18 months for $1. Sold it today at a shop for $100. $100 for a fork. LOL
Knowledge is the enemy of fear
I think full 6 or 8 serving sets are going for $3 - 5 grand. And our grandparents saved up a lifetime to buy them at $3-5 hundred $'s.
Last thing I bought was when I scrounged a 64 Kennedy and a Franklin plus 7 40% halves CRHing a couple weeks ago. That cost $4.50, I went out again this week and hit a few banks but was skunked for my efforts.

End of Oct I bought 2 old 10 oz bars at spot $490 each and then a week later the

100 oz JM bar

90% @ $39.36 on 12/6/25
Morgans & Peace @$40 on 11/22/25
I knew it would happen.

This 5.26-troy-oz ingot cost almost as much as your 100-oz bar. But it has a very high collector premium.
If the price of silver goes up, that won't affect the value of this bar very much.
And if the price of silver crashes, that still won't change the value of it very much.
About a month ago, I bought 50 ounces at $55 an ounce.
I knew this was going to happen!
The next time I buy it, it’s going to be painful

A bag of $10 FV of halves at 20x, and only because it had a fair amount of Barbers and walkers in it…..been awhile obviously!

Yes I agree but that bar is US History and my bar was just a vintage JM 100 oz Silver bar.
Why was the mint making or dealing in such small bars??
Did they accept them from people, assay them and when they had enough weight make them into 90% blanks???
Mike

Great score, I’d take 20x any day.
Congratulations

Been selling silver the past six months but still riding the wave with "paper."
When gold and silver move together, it signals the coming end of fiat money.
.
The reason for making the earlier bars (especially small ones) is somewhat of a mystery.
One theory is that when a large pour was made for large ingots to be rolled out for planchets, remaining molten silver in quantities too small for a planchet ingot were poured into these smaller ingots.
Some of the later ingots (circa 1964-1968) may have been used for silver certificate redemption. These later ingots often weigh about 100 troy ounces and often have no stamped markings, just a grease pencil weight written on them. These are known as "grease bars".

Not me , but one of my customers came in yesterday and caught a pawn shop in town with ase at 59.00 each, he bought em all
Not my pic, but I bought one of these for $296 shipped in Feb of 2024. I love the Mayan Calendar design:

Sold a bunch of PSLV ETF around $76.50, so Friday night when I was browsing around an antique store, picked these up.
Have fared ok at antique places that have rented out booths recently. When the shop owner has the displays they tend to keep up on price.
I've been doing the opposite!
My condolences to you.

Monarch Legos and a 1964 DC Peace dollar
Rolls of Mercs and Roosies along with a roll of these:
They last three coins i needed to complete the Legendary Warriors set. Got them for $63 each never thinking the spot price would be higher in less than a year.

This past weekend I cleaned out several antique shops that couldn’t keep up with the pricing. Ranging from spot to 1/2 of spot. Mint sets, proof eagles, 90%….you name it. Was a fun little challenge. Went a little crazy and spent about $6k.
I just bought about 22 grams of 10k and 14k jewelry from a young reddit user who got the idea there; to go to Walmart and buy the 75% off jewelry. Paid him and he said he was going to go find all
he could. That’s what I would call “counter”-productive. Then I turned around and ordered another 400 oz silver (@$73.44), which isn’t enough to cover demand for the next few days, the way this surge on the white metal goes. And that concluded 2025. Happy new day.

I snagged a few $40 Morgans on ebay the other day and felt pretty good. I've been getting MS63 or better Peace and Morgans for $70-$75 shipped.
I'm leaning heavily into CAC stickers, old holders, plus grades and toners as a cushion in case something drastic happens to spot. I don't think it will but it always could. Plus, they will appreciate much better than raw ones when the price goes up, and for whatever reason they don't currently seem to cost more than just random MS63 common dates. I feel pretty good about it and it's fun looking for them.
I got this NGC63+ 1922 peace dollar today and realized I never really owned any higher grade peace dollars. I think it's a nice coin for what it is and I feel $75 was fair.
Oh, and I got this the other week for below melt and anticipate doubling my money but I'm hoping for some PF70 and doing better. I made a killing on a modern bullion submission I made forever ago, which paid for the 25 slabbed peace and morgans and this.
Some guy decided he wanted the entire submission and didn't even care to send offers and just wiped me out. Then this fell in my lap so I was bound by coin law to buy it.
I picked these up last week. My last silver purchase of the year!
Those bars are gorgeous!

Bought this set in March 2001 for $139.95. It is a beautiful set, nicely packaged.
Picked up a little something different today.

Am I the only one that does some urban Prospecting?

I'll know more about these when they arrive.
The 20 grams for 5 bracelets look a little odd.
Seller said all marked .925
About 170 grams fine for 185 Dollars...

July of 2023. Bought some ASE’s, maples, kookaburras and libertads for some albums as well as several for my niece and nephew. That’s when silver was around $30.
.
That is quite a deal at the current silver price.
There might even be a couple premium coins in there, depending on date and condition.
