Some games with major implications prior to Championship weekend.

Ohio State vs. Michigan --- if Michigan wins, how far will Ohio State fall and will Michigan make the Top 10??
Texas A&M vs. Texas --- if Texas wins there may be a 3-loss team in the playoff.
Miami(Fla) vs. Pittsburgh --- the Hurricanes leave sunny Florida to play REAL football, should be a fun game.
Alabama vs. Auburn --- might be another year of no Alabama in the playoff.

Mizzo big extension for Drink. One big name coach off the board now for getting poached.

Navy did what they could at this point but North Texas and Tulane will likely be the AAC championship and the winner will be the playoff team for the G5

If Charlotte or Temple can pull off a big upset Navy gets into the title game and has to win

Looking like Unbeaten Texas A@M is going to be the first upset victim on this rivalry weekend, or maybe not.

A&M still in the playoffs but Texas is now very much alive for the playoffs as well. Where was this Archie all year.

Georgia now in the SEC championship game. Will either be Bama or Ole Miss if Bama loses as the other team.

While I do believe Kiffin is going to LSU Ole Miss might do the stupidest thing ever if they stop letting him coach the rest of the season dropping their playoff ranking and maybe even taking them out depending how many coaches and players he takes with him right away if it gets bitter. FL has already moved on to the Tulane coach from all reports as their top target so all indications are its been narrowed down to LSU or Ole Miss

Texas isn't getting in the playoffs with 3 losses. There will be too many 1 and 2 loss teams ranked ahead of them.

Texas is very much alive as a 16 that just beat 3.

    Utah looked like trash.

BYU will have no good wins if they lose to TT again in the championship. Michigan has to beat OSU which to be fair they probably do like always the last 4 years

Vandy has to beat Tenn which is up in the air. Auburn can easily beat a Debour Bama at home at night.

Texas can easily get in if the committee cares about schedule. Theyre going up multiple spots no matter what which puts them right there

  • coolstanleycoolstanley Posts: 3,500 ✭✭✭✭✭

Ain't happening. I dont see a 3 loss team getting in, especially when there will be too many sec teams ranked ahead of Texas including the team they just beat. Remember they have to be ranked in the top 9 or 10 because the ACC champ and a group of 5 team gets automatic bids. Not to mention ND will be ahead of them as well.

    Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!

Ohio State Buckeyes - National Champions

  • Basebal21Basebal21 Posts: 4,641 ✭✭✭✭✭

I get all that but The 4 conference champs and the AAC winer for the G5. The ACC is going to be one team. The Big 12 might just might get 2 but its easy to leave BYU out if TT dominates them again. Even if Vady beats Tennessee Texas should jump them. If Bama loses to Auburn which they could theyre out.

The only locks right now are A&M, Georgia Indiana and OSU.

Ole Miss would be a lock but depending how they handle the Kiffin situation and what he does in his supposed announcement tomorrow they could actually be out

Stanford is so bad I consider ND a lock but the game hasnt happened yet. Fully expect TT to beat WVU as well making TT a playoff lock

Some stuff has to happen but Texas isnt dead yet

    Fire AJ Preller

  • coolstanleycoolstanley Posts: 3,500 ✭✭✭✭✭

Ole Miss is a lock with only one loss, and Oklahoma is a lock with a win today. Just too many teams for Texas to sneak in.

    Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!

Ohio State Buckeyes - National Champions

  • Basebal21Basebal21 Posts: 4,641 ✭✭✭✭✭

Ole Miss should be a lock for sure under normal circumstances. Theres been stuff coming out both sides where I wish they would just say whatever the decision is hes the coach the rest of the year. Starts getting Kelly LSU stuff, and portal, and poaching coaches if you dont let someone leaving finish the season. The committee has already stated they will take into account a coach leaving and how that happens matters.

Weve already had North Texas lose their coach but hes going to finish the season and theyre in the playoffs with the AAC championship win. Theyre already in the game and Tulane will almost certainly be the opponent

Hopefully Ole Miss doesnt do something stupid causing them to take that into consideration

With Basebal rooting for Texas to get in and Michigan to beat Ohio State a monumental conflict arises, one I am anxious to see him try to squirm out of with his convoluted logic. If Michigan wins today, how can you place them ahead of Texas in the CFP Poll??

Even before today's games are started I will provide this list of teams that are IN the playoff, no matter what the results might be. It's hard to envision a scenario which keeps on of the Top 8 teams out and 9-10 are automatic. That leaves two spots which are too complicated for me to figure out with 2 games left. I think it might be sorted out today if Ohio State and Alabama both win, if either loses it might require Championship Weekend to clear things up with those last 2 spots.

    Ohio State
    Indiana
    Texas A&M
    Georgia
    Texas Tech
    Oregon
    Ole Miss
    Notre Dame
    ACC Champion
    Group of 5 Champion

In case your keeping track, that's 3-SEC, 3-Big 10, 1-Big 12, 1-ACC, 1-Group of 5 and an Independent. The last 2 spots set up some possible/probable anti-climactic 2nd matches we've already seen this season and who wants that??

He had control as the ball went over the goal line. What else matters??

The officiating so far seems a bit tentative, as though they are afraid of making a call which will affect the outcome. The result has been a few bad calls in both directions.

that was my thought process as well. only thing that mattered was him having possession as he crossed the plane. and imo he did, briefly.

but then Klatt & Pereira tried to gaslight me with foot out of bounds, no control, touchback & Michigan's ball, etc

btw pitching wide on 2nd and short is such a horrible play call by Day

that gives Michigan the opportunity to penetrate and potentially kill the scoring drive. ram it up the gut and impose your will. do it again if you have to. and again

    edit: scored anyway

huge discrepancy in talent in this game

    OSU could easily pull away

if they can keep their heads and play clean in the 2nd half, it's a dub

Ryan Day needs to tell the team not to engage with Michigan. It has been clear from the beginning that players are looking for confrontation with Ohio State players. The play right before the half was typical, Michigan player walking up to him and pushing him.

    Just walk away.

and as far as Ole Miss potentially being left out based on what Kiffin does, that's beyond funny

he could come out later today and say he's a woman and the Rebels are in

Looks like game/set/match for Michigan. The way Ohio State just ran down the field this might be the last shot for the Wolverines.

So “The Game” is all but over, so I have to ask: Hey, @Basebal21, what the heck happened?? You were pretty sure Michigan was gonna win.
Please explain the game to me and please explain Ohio State to me.

Oregon is absolutely not guaranteed to be in with a loss Michigan losing improves their chances.

ACC might end up with 6 6-2 teams in conference with what appears to be a Miami win.

G5 team will be North Texas or Tulane who are playing for the AAC championship unless Tunlane craps the bed against a terrible Charlotte team

    TT in the playoffs now

Texas A&M vs. Texas—- good win by Texas and might be enough.
Miami(Fla) vs. Pittsburgh —- the Hurricanes played much better than I expected
Alabama vs. Auburn --- might be another year of no Alabama in the playoff.

Hes missing several of his linemen and the SEC defensive lines are all good enough to shut down their running game.

Lacy at Ole Miss has basically the same amount of yards and more TDs than the entire OU team combined. Teams just focus on stopping the passing game, but yea he hasnt been quite the same since the hand surgery

Theres been talk thaty hes waiting to see what happens in the Bama game and that they may be going after him if they lose to Auburn.

I still think hes going to LSU but hes supposedly been talking to Saban and Pete Carrol a bunch and legit might not know what he wants to do. He could be a legend at Ole Miss and hell get fired in 3 years if he struggles at LSU
