Ole Miss and State are both baseball schools at the end of the day and Lane has done an amazing job.
Johnny Vaught was one of best College Football Coaches ever,...
If he were still with us, you could be the one to tell him Ole Miss is a Baseball school.
For baseball theyev been consistently making the playoffs since about the mid 90s. and once Bianco took over they have multiple super regional appearances and multiple trips to Omaha including a National Title
The football team has had 4 very good years with Lane and had its bright spots but the baseball team has been their most successful the last 25 or so years
They had almost 17k people at the Ole Miss State game 2 years ago which was crazy for their stadium that wasnt being played in a pro stadium
Vaught was head coach at Ole Miss for 23 years and compiled a record of 190-61-12. And while in that position, he was named SEC coach of the year 6 times, won 5 Sugar Bowl games and shared claimed National Championships in 1959, 1960 and 1962. He made the Ole Miss football program a National power. He is a legend.

Dont get me wrong Im not trying to degrade him by any means. They had some coaches after him that every now and then had success but Luke kinda ran it into the ground before Kiffin came and put them back on the map consistently while hes been there
I would like to see Lane stay there and do think they are trying to make that happen with his ability to recruit. Its a lot more interesting with him there than taking a bunch of players and having the LSU or FL resources to make super teams
I care about Michigan in the sense that theyre doing the right thing to try and stop that PE deal the B!G has been pushing. That deal would help them for a couple years but ultimately cost them money and probably cause money losing sports like wrestling to get discontinued at some point from lost revenue over the course of the deal.
I hope they hold their ground and are successful in doing so
But, but, but everyone knows the BEST teams are in the SEC. It’s a different landscape in NCAA today than it was 5 years ago and I’d cite three reasons: the transfer portal, NIL money and the retirement of Nick Saban.
Interesting, after a very storied Head Coaching career Saban’s last game was the loss to Michigan. Part of me thinks he saw the writing on the wall and decided to walk away. My hunch is that he sleeps better now.

“Miami needs to continue to win the football games they have in front of them, and good things will happen”
That's a quote from Hunter Yurachek, who took over this week as chair of the selection committee. That doesn't sound like the sort of thing I'd expect to hear the CFP Chairman say.

You're misinterpreting this.
This is news because he was getting hammered on some of the positioning. The quote you're referencing was about how Miami needs to worry about Miami and not worry about ND. It's not even correctly quoted. Here's the quote, in context. All this whining and lying makes B1G fans seem like absolute babies. It's a real bad look.
What does Miami have to do to get to that point where it could potentially be in a comparable tier with Notre Dame?
Yurachek: First and foremost, Miami needs to continue to win the football games they have in front of them, and then things will happen. There's still a lot of football to be played with two more weeks in the regular season and then the championship week.
You look at the teams that are between Notre Dame and Miami right now, you've got Alabama that's got a game against Auburn coming up and then potentially an SEC Championship game. BYU has a couple of games remaining and then potentially a Big 12 Championship game. Then you've got Utah with a couple games.
So I would say Miami needs to continue to win, and then hope for some things ahead of them fall their way.
It still strikes me as an odd thing for him to be saying. If both Notre Dame and Miami win out I fail to see how their respective ranks should change.
These are the sort of things about “ranking” which seem ridiculous about the playoffs. Talk of good wins and bad losses only confuse things. If the CFP wants Miami ahead of Notre Dame because they beat them then Alabama should be ahead of Georgia.

i think the HC of my new favorite team is going to dive into the swamp. i may have to choose another one, lol. nah, i'm sticking with the Rebels. this is going to turn out crappy for them, i'm afraid. good team, gonna make the postseason, but their leader is going to bolt before they ever play a snap in the playoffs. just my opinion. if Kiffin truly wanted to stick and stay, he already would have signed an extension because Ole Miss agreed to match any offer. i'm starting to feel sorry for the school and its fanbase, because the focus should be on the team and what lies ahead, but instead it's turning into the Lane Kiffin tour. dude loves the limelight.

He was answering a question and it's the most "dad answer" ever. Worry about yourself and things will take care of themselves. You might be reading too much into these types of remarks... or maybe I'm wrong... but I think the CFP cares about money and that means they care about keeping the conferences happy, and certain schools happy so that's the bias if it exists. It could also be a perfectly legitimate and above board organization just like FIFA or... the IOC... wink wink.

Perhaps then someday we will have the ability to see the difference in the quality of a win or loss. Perhaps in the year... I don't know... 2505.

i say he's the next head coach of Florida
I think LSU is a little more likely than FL but both are great jobs. Yea the huge house a former FL coach used to own just got taken off the market where now we have not only flight travel trackers for college but real estate as well
Hes playing this perfectly right now. He knows hes the number one target for big time programs and his contract is going to be massive
Theres some growing stuff that he will stay at Ole Miss but not sure about that. It would certainly be a mistake for Ole Miss to fire him before the playoffs and I think he will finish the season there either way. Recruits will certainly start flipping to his new school if he does leave and players will hit the transfer portal to follow for sure. It would be weird though if Ole Miss got rid of him and ruined their playoff hopes
Yes, now if only Tennessee and Texas weren't clogging the middle 10, teams from other conferences might be able to position themselves in the event of some up front losses. I for one am anxious to see what the post season head-head matches provide us with.

Yes, and Illinois should be ahead of both Missouri and Tennessee, because Illinois has a win over a ranked team.

Its not really that much of a change. First string wasnt that good and theyve been a running team with nast lines on both sides.
Theyre in play for that game especially with Mateer still not looking great for Oklahoma after the injury. Simpson really blew that game for Bama

Thanks for clarifying, I read “we” to be SEC as the way it was worded wasn’t entirely clear.

I don't know why Wisconsin has to be first...

They played them first. They arent the worst team in that group. UCLA and Perdue are worse, Theyre about the same level as PSU this year

I definitely do!
Gotta celebrate becoming the first ever team to have a 0:5 turnover ratio and still win!

UAB

Arkansas
Kentucky
New Mexico state
Illinois has a win over #15 USC.

Am I wrong by saying that Tennessee is more of a revenue bringer than Illinois so they are giving Tennessee a higher ranking?
Does that stuff matter with these teams?
It shouldn't matter, but most college football fans live in the midwest.

W#hat he didnt mention is that Illinois lost to Indiana by over 50 points and werent competitive against OSU or Washington.
