Tough to see the Eagles losing this game tonight.

Interesting thing is the rushing props for Barkley are about the same as usual. Despite the sore knee stories, and short week for the knee to heal up better.

I think Barkley has a big game tonight against his former team, and the Eagles win the game.

    Calling the Eagles ML.

    Glory is fleeting.

This season's Barkley sure ain't last season's Barkley. Without that, the Eagles chances of getting to the Super Bowl are iffy at best. Which we all knew before this season began,

Great game for the Giants. Kind of brought the teams together in the NFC East, at least for the time being.

Believe it or not, I wanted Dallas to take Scattaboo in the draft. I thought he looked good in the bowl game.

If Dallas only had a defence!! Flubberpuss has to go!!!

    NFL logic, Part 1:

The Eagles yesterday morning were 9-1 odds to win this season's Super Bowl.

    The Giants were 800-1.

So logically the Giants should blow-out the Eagles in last night's game, right? 😒

BTW, that's the only Part. There is no Part 2.

Shocking game last night, tough night for Philly faithful

    Sorry Steve

    Sorry Steve

Eagles still at 4-2 with of course plenty of season left.

But can't refuse to accept the situation. if Barkley doesn't heal up, it's unlikely that the Eagles will get to the Super Bowl this season, let alone win it.

Actually I've got no real problem with all this. The Eagles won it last season, and that will overall keep me happy for a number of years. I think - LOL

NFC East now seems wide open. In fact much of the NFL seems wide-open as far as which team is going to win this season's Super Bowl.

    Long way to go.

Steve, It really boils down to 1 play. Down by only 10 points and in the Red Zone going in to make it 3 points with plenty of time left and Hurts throws that pick. It was a great play by the Giants DB. All of a sudden it's a

17 point game and the Giants start burning the clock......game over. Bottom line is, the Eagles are not that bad, and the Giants are not that good. When is the last time a team started the season 1 - 4 and went to the SB,
much less win it. Their odds went from 1-900 to 1-899. I doubt they can pull off a SB like that one against the undefeated Pats! They should have never won that game! You know what they say about that PIG that can't see
and a Acorn. Lot of Football left.

The Eagles look like they did at the end of the 2023 season when they totally fell apart.

One thing you can say about this pro football season. No one is going to run away with it, at least so far.

    Too much “tush push?”

When you get to third and one yard to go, there should be little question about getting a first down. Then we have a “push tush” drama and we end up a movement penalty. Next it’s three and out.

The won today, but if Saquon Barkley does not improve or if the Eagles can’t find a replacement, they will not go far in the playoffs.

Hurts through for over 300.yards, Philly must have finally realized that throwing the football in the NFL is a solid plan

Hate to agree with ya. The Barkley era with the Eagles was short but very sweet. However we have to look at the situation now, and there is obviously a serious problem.

As we all know, when it comes to running backs, sometimes they go downhill quickly, and their NFL career is suddenly over. Bottom line, 44 yards on 18 carries simply won't cut it. Poor day receiving as well.

Or Barkley will. heat up towards the end of the season, if he is hurt or playing through a minor injury they might want to keep him out a few games

    He is irreplaceable really

If you can have at least the threat of throwing the ball well, the ground game will improve. But Barkley has issues.

You can’t “fix” Barkley but calling on him for every play. When the opposing team knows he’s going to get ball, they will key him. The first touchdown may have been because the Vikings let a receiver get behind them after Barkley did not get the run. After that, the Eagles kept trying to get him going, and it was one three and outs after another.

Nice win today for the Eagles.

Good news to see Barkley with 150 rushing yards.

Now 6-2. Not bad at all.

Eagles with a bye-week, and now it's back to work next Monday night on the road against the Packers.

    Should be a heckuva game.

  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 32,467 ✭✭✭✭✭

The Eagles worked on their D getting an edge rusher from Miami and Jair Alexander, they are priming for another strong playoff run

The division is all. but taken care of now with Daniels being out and the Cowboys being the Cowboys

    Cool !

That could be said about almost any NFL team. In my view, may as well just take it one game at a time. The Eagles play the Giants on the road this coming Thursday, and that's my focus.

The Eagles are 4-1. If they started each season 4-1, I'd take that every time. 😉

One more game should tell us what we've been waiting for.
    Maybe.
After week 9's games there seems to be more wiggle room than expected .
Can you imagine having your bye, week 9, and watching what happened to many teams that we thought were on the wild card list only to be thrown back into the hunt list.
    Oh my !

Very interesting game tonight. Eagles coming off a bye-week, and should be nice and fresh.

A few articles lately about Micah Parsons being soft on the run. This isn't new, but perhaps this season it has been more notable? Nick Sirianni is an excellent game strategist and I'm sure he will exploit this when possible.

The wild card is Saquon Barkley. He was having a sub par season, when suddenly in the last game, he rushed for 150 yards. In theory, the two week rest should do him some good. But a knee problem, one hit, could cause the problem to reoccur.

Jalen Hurts has played excellent football. Total of 15 TD passes and only 1 interception. For the Eagles style of football, I wouldn't trade him for any other QB in the league.

Tough call but I'm calling the Eagles in this game.

    Eagles ML

At the end of the game why pass the ball on 4th down? A short punt would have backed up the Packers against their goal line and taken time off the clock.

There's been a fair amount of discussion about that. Your point certainly is valid. However right after 3rd down, I actually thought that Sirianni should go for it on 4th and six. So I agreed with the decision, but didn't like the play call at all. He went for a deep pass which was totally unnecessary, instead of just a short pass to get the six yards. The play didn't fool Green Bay at all, as the pass wasn't even close to a completion.

Sometimes coaches get too dam cute with their play calls. I'm sure Sirianni figured Green Bay would be looking for the short pass, so he went deep instead. Wrong. As Lombardi would have done, go to your strength in a situation such as that. The strength in that situation was a short pass. But as we know, Sirianni is sometimes a gambler, coaches have tendencies, and Green Bay knowing all this, was on the lookout for that call.

In any event, the Eagles defense held nicely, Eagles won the game, so I'm sure not going to complain too much.
