Yes, we are. I am NOT a fan of starting rookies unless they have an amazing training camp and there are no veteran players available. McCarthy is still a rookie as he was hurt all of last year. We had 2 options at QB and didn't go after either of them.
>

Daniel Jones wasn't going to stay. Had he stayed, he would suck behind the decimated o-line - as anyone who has nearly no mobility like him or Wentz. Eaten alive. Plus, Daniel Jones was awful after he signed that contract when he beat the Vikings thanks to a terrible Ed Donatell defense. I was at the game. He was OK. Since then, he was so bad, he was released. We picked him up as a favor. Why in the world would we hand the team over to him? Would have made zero sense.
>
>
Jones had 69 starts in the NFL. Makes as much sense as handing the job to Sam Darnold last year. Makes more sense than putting a 21 year old in as a starter......to me.
Jones is doing pretty good this year. I'd rather have a rental QB get "eaten alive" than our potential franchise guy.
>

JJ McCarthy was not injury prone prior to being drafted. He won nearly every game he started from HS thru college. He has more big game experience and success than Daniel Jones' entire lifetime.
>

College is not the same as the NFL. High School either. He wasn't injury prone before, but he has been since being drafted.

McCarthy has played 8 quarters of NFL regular-season football and was bad in 87.5% of them. The other 12.5% or one quarter was so good he was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week against the Bears in week #1.
>
>
I wouldn't say he was "bad" in every quarter except the 1. He looked inexperienced to me. He threw some good passes.
>
>
By Week #2 versus the Falcons - a game I was at - the offensive line was already decimated. The Falcons blitz the entire game and KOC ran a terrible game plan with zero adjustments in the second half. Only to get him injured again.
>
>
KOC is a POOR game time coach. Everyone likes him because he's so NICE. I can't afford to go to the games, but I watch them all. I don't care for KOC AT ALL. But he does seem to be a nice person. I actually liked Mike Zimmer. Spielman screwed Zimmer BIG TIME.

The only off-season QB that would have made any sense to go after was Aaron Rodgers for 1-year to give McCarthy more time. It was reported A-Rod wanted that. KOC and GM/front office didn't want to do that for whatever reason. At least Rodgers has the experience to get rid of the ball as an all-time great.
>
>
I didn't want Rodgers. Now, it looks like that might not have been a bad idea.
>
>
>
Looking through the windshield, it's JJ McCarthy time - good or bad for the rest of 2025. He's got 10 games to show us something - same thing goes for Kevin O'Connell who has handled the situation very poorly.
>
>
Yes, it's JJ time. It's PAST time to pick up a functioning Center. It's PAST time to put in some pass plays that develop quickly so that the QB can get rid of the ball before getting obliterated.
>

The Vikings GM and his dipshit sidekick, Grigson are already dead to me. They have botched every draft they've been in. For every decent FA signing there's 2 that are horrible.
>
>
>
I knew it in year 1 when they took a Safety not named Hamilton with their #1 pick. Several publications rated him the best football player in the draft. The Vikings could have had him.
They have made a couple of good moves in free agency, but most have been injury prone guys who have been hurt here too.
I'm hoping Darrisaw's injury heals completely. It should be healed by now. O'Neil needs to be back and healthy as well.
I would promote Brian Flores to Head Coach ASAP.
Other than Addison they don't have one draft pick who's a proven starter.

Horrible play call at the end of the 1st half by the Dolphins. Going for 4th with a bum QB like Tua - take the 3 and be down by 5 at halftime. Now no points and still you're down 8.

I didnt realize how young JJ is. Drake just turned 23 in August and he seems super young. JJ is 8 months younger than Maye is.
both are younger than this years number 1 pick Cam Ward. Crazy.
I honestly dont know much about JJ, but the kid needs more than just 2 games before people count him out.
I will add that if he continues to get injured, the Vikes will need to move on though.

Just wait till a year or two with players that will be 20 when they get drafted. Williams at Bama wont even be legally able to buy beer when he gets drafted unless he comes back his senior year. The top high school guys have been reclassifying and been playing as 17 year old freshman

Three years of college with no age requirement. Williams for example was starting for Bama as a 17 year old and will be draft eligible as a 20 year old at the time of the draft. Auburn has a 17 year old, Syracuse actually has a 16 year old that plays. Toney at Miami whose one of the best WRs started the season as a 17 year old. Its becoming more common for them to skip their SR year of high school completing early for the skill players at least. Im not aware of a lineman trying to do it yet
Well now that the mini slump for the pre season favorites, Bills,Eagles,Chiefs,Ravens is over, they can commence their drive to securing a playoff spot

Wow. If you didn't see Higgins catch check it out. He just took the baby out of the carrier, dropped him on the sidewalk, and snatched the pass. And it might look like Flacco just dropped a dime down the chimney but he didn't and he still sucks.
Morris accuses the Pats defense of illegally clapping on a critical 2nd down play on Atlanta’s final drive where Penix gets called for intentional grounding the ball.
@perkdog, while I don't think Flacco is the answer for the Bengals I think he proves that the offense isn't Burrow-driven, it's driven by the WR's right now. Burrow's trade capital will probably never be higher and from yesterday's game it's clear the Bengals need help on defense. They gave up 293 passing yards and 283 on the ground!!!

McCarthy had a nice game - I think the thing that impressed me most is when he's rolling out to the left or right and keeps his eyes downfield and is always looking for someone open. Seems like most young QBs instinct it to tuck the ball and run.

There were too many questionable calls that went against both teams - not that I necessarily buy into the consipiracy theory - but sometimes it looks like outcomes are contrived to create more drama and one-score games.

it took awhile, but eventually Manning beat Brady in the playoffs.
I actually remember that game like it was yesterday, it was the 2007 AFCCG and NE had an early 21-3 lead before Indy ultimately came back and won 38-34. Brady was throwing to Troy Brown, Reche Caldwell & Jabar Gaffney and he had an INT on his final drive that sealed the Colts win.
That loss for NE was the precursor to BB going out and adding Randy Moss, Wes Welker & Donte Stallworth that offseason.

Denver keeps winning games (in a most unsettling manner) and is now 7-2. Denver's defense is very good. Its offense has not been clicking until the 4th quarter (which is strange, but has led to some wild finishes).

While there were some bad calls against the Lions, the refs seemed like they weren't going to let the Vikings score after they got ahead and it started getting late.
99 yard kickoff return called back on a REAL questionable hold. A pass that both the Vikings player and Lions defender both caught (?) was ruled an interception. It probably should have been called incomplete. If both players have the ball, the announcer said it goes to the offense. So, it should have been a catch for the Vikings or an incomplete pass.
Another ball that Jefferson caught for a nice gain was called incomplete.
It got to the point where I was looking for a flag after every play.
At least one roughing the passer on McCarthy looked like a clean hit.
