Thanks for the update. I pulled the trigger on a 6 about 12 years for $450. Things have really changed.

Yes, they really have changed. I bought my 7 about the same time, 2012 if memory serves. I put out a little over a thousand for that one. I think it was $1100. so, you got the better deal. I overpaid at the time. just had to have it though.

nice grade and nice card, I think they actually got it right. The centering keeps it from a 9, IMO.

You're dinging it for the edges? If so, shouldn't it be more like a 7?

that is a nice looking example!!! congrats

Submitted in August and got back from PSA this month.

Looks like a fair grade. Maybe I'll test the waters with some of my 71's.

1979 O-PEE-CHEE #374 REGGIE JACKSON YANKEES HOF POP 2 PSA 10 auction ended on ebay tonight. Final bid was $2,180.00. Still a pretty good price considering the POP. Topps PSA 10 last sale on ebay was $1,247.42.

I wanted to check that sale to make sure it was legit, I saw it on 130point that it actually sold for 6K as a best offer, but a big sale nonetheless for sure! Looks like mid grade 68 OPC Ryan sell for about 4X their Topps counterpart in the same grade.

Tried for some really nice ‘68 O-Pee-Chee baseball raw cards with GMC tonight and got wiped out. Very competitive world right now.

I was too lazy to check 130 point. usually if it is a BO accepted it will have a green line through it on the ebay sold page.

$6,000 is a big sale for mid grade.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

A 1973 OPC partial set of 540 commons sold for $600. Note that this set did not include big stars such as Schmidt, etc.
A 1975 OPC partial set of 575 commons sold for a whopping $900. Note that this set did not include big stars such as Aaron, Ryan, Brett, Yount, etc.

Both of these were sold by New England Sports Cards. Remember that NESC is where 4SC sells the commons after they pick out the stars for grading and listing on their 4SC platform. Will be interesting to see what the grades are for the stars from these sets. The OPC baseball market is strong these days.

Yep, looks like it. Interesting though on the PSA 10's, Nolan ryan 1981 topps sold for double that of the opc 14 vs 41 pop. And 1980 is the same way. Not sure why. At mostly all other levels below 10's the OPC dominate or are some better.

only thing i can think of is the registry. more people putting together topps sets and they want those 10's

In my latest sub, I thought this had a chance of a 9. It didn't get it.

hough card looks great. i know that sgc rarely gives 8's with print defects, so you were probably lucky to get an 8 here, even though the white print mark is almost unnoticeable.

Not sure what you mean by "lucky to get an 8 here"
To me, it was an easy 8. I've seen worse 9s.
PSA has often been forgiving with fish eyes on '75s.
Getting a 9 with a fish eye is not unheard of, with Topps anyway, and I've even seen 10s with some print issues.

The '75T Hough was graded 20 years ago. Times were different. I'm sure now the argument would indicate it's barely a 7. The '75OPC Hough looks accurately graded.

1981 Topps Ron Cey PSA10 and 1981 OPC Ron Cey PSA10 sold on the same day by the same seller.
The Topps sold for $200 and the OPC sold for $766.
The Topps is a POP 19, Total graded 134.
The OPC is a POP 1, Total graded 7.

Interesting indeed. I'm a little surprised this would be your first thought on the why.

I had to go look. I am surprised that this got a 10. I haven't got above a 8.5 on a fuzzy edger in a few years. Also of note is PSA making another nice card look like trash in it's mylar prison.

    ** I almost forgot. I loved the listing. POP 1! There are 6 graded. 5 9s and 1 10. Not impressed.
