if i'm the owner of vintage unopened, this evisceration phase puts me in a state of elated bliss
I’ve definitely noticed price increases at BBCE, along with anything good being gone from the site quickly. I’ve also noticed a recent increase in ungraded rookies that goes through 2018. This isn’t buyers club type stuff. It seems like it’s just regular people trying to get their hands on things.
I visited the Fritsch website last night and noticed something interesting: not a single vending box from '70s baseball. Might be worth a call to see if they have any. I'm wondering if they are hanging on to their remaining '70s inventory, or if they are just depleted from that decade.

From what I hear, Vintage Breaks IS going to do some type of vending box break in the near future. Not sure it they have hit Fritsch up or not. I too had looked at their site for vending and didn't see anything older than 84, I don't believe.
The only vending I trust are BBCE wrapped FASC. I'm not even interested in the Fritsch vault stuff. You can never tell if they are factory untouched. They sat in their warehouse for decades, so who knows if they were picked through to build sets over that time. I don't suspect the stars were pulled but some of the boxes may have been disturbed at some point. Treetop posted on here several years ago about a 1971 Fritsch vending box he opened and he wasn't too pleased with it.
I should have been more specific - In this thread there was discussion about a 1960 Topps Baseball unopened vending box that sold for $18K. Does anyone know if the case was opened? That would be a great thing to watch.

This whole topic such as the 75 Topps and the post on the 71 Topps rack has really got me to thinking. At what point do buyers of the "breakers" just say "no"?
No way! Just say yes to packs and cartons of cards, whether you open them or keep them closed! It's packs and cartons of alcohol and cigarettes and other DRUGS that we should just say NO!
Does anyone know if the 1960 topps vending box was ever opened? There was a lot of discussion in this thread about the legitimacy of this box and it would be nice to know if the box was truly unsearched.
Opinion: Whomever purchased the 1960 Topps Vending Box in 2016 would quite likely have never considered opening it for any reason. It would be foolish to believe otherwise. The box, if in the same condition today, would be worth substantially more than the purchase price of 9 years ago.
Most likely it was not opened but some people do open rare packs/boxes. I think I read about someone opening a 86 Fleer basketball case which is worth much more.
I also don't think its foolish to think it might have been opened. The sale took place nine years ago which is why I'm asking. I know nothing about sports cards that took place from 2000-2022 as I was out of the hobby.
Was the box resold? Opened? I have no idea which is why I asked.
What's the statute of limitations on an item like this? Let's say the box is opened and its similar to what happened with the pokemon case. The box was certified by BBCE and the seller advertised it as unopened. Is it buyer beware and the poor guy that purchased this item is out of luck?

I have a friend who has a 1960 Topps Baseball Vending box. It is BBCE wrapped. Not sure if it's the same box in this discussion. The box in question was not wrapped?

Always thought this stuff was for collecting/buying - pride of ownership.
The excitement and allure of unopened is just that: unopened - IMO.

Ok, well, wait a couple more years and ask again I guess.
Or its possible it was and someone might respond.
If it was purchased by @UFFDAH then it could have been opened or likely to be opened one day. He rips the most amazing stuff!

That sucka is not in my stash. I wish it was!!!
The question is.... if it were... would you open it???

Good question. 5 years statute I suspect.
Tough question - I'll plead the 5th
