On September 6th this popped up on my shopping radar.
No COA but has nice sigma metal content image, tester likely not included.
Sigma is like $2,000 last time I looked. Started looking a decade~ish ago and was a $20,000 outlay.
Very nice it works thru plastic, even generic plastic.
I am not a buyer of this 1848 CAL however you might be.
Today my Lincoln Cent replacement album arrived.I took the last page 1952-S thru 1958 page and added the coins I had available plus the 1958-D DDO & 1958-D Memorial cents by the Moonlight Mint
For those that did not see my thread on the photo problems, a Moderator stepped in. It has been an issue since yesterday. They are working on it. It is not your computer. Regards.
I did the boot & stuff and still images here are unenjoyable over last couple~ish days.
Glad a fix is in the works !
Thanks !

Try going to your browser's tool kit and "clear recent history" / "Temporary Cached Files".
Then refresh the page. That sometimes works for me.
PS:
All the images in this thread appear normal to me. I am using FireFox.
I also have had no issues with image size, compression or ratio and have been on the site everyday for a while. I am using Safari.
For this group, I was wondering if anyone has noticed any white spotting on the 2020 “the world shut down” hard times tokens? Two of the three I have show these spots. Thanks!

I have 2 or 3, I'll check when I get home. I don't recall noticing anything but couldn't tell you exactly the last time I looked.

I haven't seen that happen much, if at all. I go to great lengths preparing the planchets to prevent that.
I would recommend using coin dip cleaner (such as Tarn-X or similar) on all such coins, even those without spots.
Doing so can help prevent the future formation of the dreaded "milk spots". I only have a few (un-certified) American Silver Eagles and I "dipped" them all when I got them and none have ever spotted.
I had one silver eagle in a group that all came back graded 70 from PCGS, with TrueViews. One of them developed milkspots within a week of the order being returned form PCGS. I didn't go through the complaint process, but cracked it out and sent it to @dcarr for an overstrike. Came back fine and, last I looked, not a single milk spot in evidence.
Never gotten the mikys second hand but I do not collect everything. Nothing milky for me sourced direct. I have no 2020 you mention, but my one 2nd hand 2021 is calcium free as I just looked.
A couple decades ago I searched to buy just one 1961 DDR reverse Frankin Proof but grew tired of sorting out the milkys. You got milk ? There was Milky everywhere. The amazing DDR is plagued with problems.
And are the Milkys just not impossible to remove those annoying spots ???
Anybody got the chemistry to delete the milky spots ???
I took a class with Dr B Fivaz titled "better coins through chemistry", but I have no milky spot removal notes from him. I was a newbie then. He certainly helped me/us in understanding US copper & silver archiving. It's so cool I keep everything, but nothing concerning the evil milk spots on silver.

Hey DC, what's it like to see your coins in the aftermarket? You're looking at 20 or so years of history. It's gotta be satisfying/humbling to see that you will, imho, have your own chapter in a future Red Book as a minter.

Thanks. Understood. These are the two that spotted, not sure why. I was just curious if anyone else had experienced this. One is spotted but in kind of a fingerprint pattern.

The first one definitely looks like a fingerprint gone bad. Usually, milk-spotting is an etching of the surface. Such etching, can not be cleaned off. But I would still recommend a "dip" cleaning on both. The second one might be saved. The first one is unlikely to improve much, but still worth a try.

Once in a while I still come across a New York or Rhode Island state quarter in circulation. That is pretty neat to see.
I doubt that my items will have a permanent place in the Red Book (although that would be amazing). But a one-time special edition (or something like that) seems plausible at some point.
I don't know how much longer I will continue minting (I just turned 67). I'm thinking that starting next year I will cut back on commissioned projects and focus on my own projects for a couple more years. After that, maybe a gradual retirement and slowing down activity.
I tend to pass on commissioned products as most seem to remain in production even after a year or years. Are most still in production or has production ended ?

If you’ve ever seen Dan at work, you’d agree with me that he’s one of the hardest workers I’ve ever seen , I don’t think a 20 year old could keep up with him‼️
I’m happy to hear that he’s got a plan to slow down a bit and do things that he really enjoys doing .
Kudos to Dan‼️👍

Have always liked the 1848 CAL coin....
Well, just Love coins, period.
Can’t tell if I have one of the first 15 (flatter edge)⁉️ The reverse side (proof),
doesn’t really have an edge at all⁉️

$5,000 - at the time of purchase gold was $1,230/oz and the issue price was $4,500. I remember being scoffed at for overpaying for 'bullion'.

The day that Gold crosses $4000 is the day that the intrinsic value of this becomes double the face value.

Hey !
Is it just me or are all the images here compressed, squished from top to bottom ?
All are smaller and oval shaped.
Thanks !
Sure enough. And it's not just this thread.
How about this one?

My guess: To save space and load faster, high-resolution photos are now automatically reduced in size.
Unfortunately, it appears the aspect ratio is, um, adversely affected.
Anyway, I'm guessing it's a glitch that'll be corrected soon.
