If you knew your football history, you would know that Kinnick stadium is a tough place to win as a traveling team. Just ask Ohio State, Penn State, and Michigan.
Michigan has a winning record there.
All 3 teams have lost there recently.
Michigan has won the last two there and hasn't lost in State College since 2019.
Ohio State
Oregon
Miami(Fla)
Ole Miss
Oklahoma
Texas A&M
Penn State
Indiana
Texas
Alabama
It seems strange that the voters would penalize and drop Miami(Fla) because they didn't play, but at the same time reward Oklahoma who didn't play and moved up. Along with that I would like to hear their explanation for dropping Penn State behind teams that didn't play after they just lost in overtime to the new number 2 team. Also, Texas A&M moves up after a 6 point win, 16-10, over unranked Auburn.
Not sure if it makes sense or not but the voters now have 5-SEC, 4-Big 10 and 1-ACC team(s) rounding out the Top 10. Certainly the season is still young but it's starting to look like the playoff is going to be the SEC vs. the Big 10. That might sound like a ratings bonanza for the NCAA but it will infuriate a lot of fans around the country.
I hope somebody is watching, somebody who can fix something that's broken.

Um, you need to recheck the records. Michigan has lost at Kinnick stadium 4 out of the last 5 times. Not to mention, Michigan also forfeited the 2020 game(kinnick stadium) because they stunk.(covid excuse).
Honestly. I agree with you that it’s a joke. But I think that the people who care about it are in a slim majority. It’s just not that important to most people that it’s not simply a performance. I like to think I’m a bit of a daywalker myself. I enjoy both the show and peeking behind the curtain. Smile and wave. Smile and wave.

Auburns like 3 fumbles away from being undefeated.
Penn State was penalized far less for their loss than Bama was for theirs and Georgia was for theres. Penn State should be happy to even be in the top 10 especially since Moore at Oregon didnt look very good and the voters are drooping teams out of the top 10 for a loss. Really helps when a bunch of the voters are graduates from your journalism school. 3 top 5 teams lost and only one of them barely moved down.
But as usual no consistently with how they vote. They need something to write about and half of them dont even really watch. Realistically there should be no preseason rankings and rankings shouldnt start till like week 6 or 7

I dont like Michigan but they didnt use covid as an excuse. They were forced to and not allowed to play. The B!G was one of if not the strictest conference when it came to that. The B!G and the Pac 12 played a very minimal schedule while the SEC, ACC and Big 12 played basically a full schedule
Penn State was penalized far less for their loss than Bama was for theirs and Georgia was for theres
A comment defending Alabama's inclusion in the Top 10 by the member who a few short weeks ago wanted to get rid of their HC. You need to stick to something.

They were 2-4 before Michigan cancelled their season. How convenient.
You can’t just leave a spot in the top 10 empty. Which one belongs? Bama did just beat Georgia. I agree Bama isn’t a top 10 team but there are a lot of question marks after them. Flip them with Texas Tech or Texas. I would still have Georgia above them but you can’t do that because pitchforks are too heavy to ship.
The trouble is that the voters don't and can't watch enough games to have an understanding of who is actually as good as the poll says and why teams who are undefeated shouldn't be considered, until they prove they don't belong. That's what wrong with the poll. The voters almost certainly only watch 1-2 games, highlights from the top teams and then maybe they scour some video and look at stats.
Just as an example I will use Missouri. They are 5-0 and haven't really played anyone yet. I will let Basebal21 tell you who they have beaten and then he can compare those teams to the patsies that the others ahead of them have played and beaten. My example will be Georgia --- wins over Marshall and Austin Peay, a win in OT and a loss. I'm not impressed. Georgia is where they are for the same reason Clemson and LSU were where they were, past performance presumed quality. BIAS.

I still want their HC fired because of the amount of talent they have. Simple fact is Georgia was one dropped perfectly thrown pass away from winning that game. Hes simply not the right fit and they have played soft a lot of times since he took over.
That said when they play Georgia they get hyped up and play like they should

Again at that time the B!G and the Pac 12 were making the decisions on who was and who wasnt allowed to play. Yes until the cheating Michigan was generally an average team under Jim, but given the circumstances and how different conferences reacted to it thats not a year that can be held against them

Missouri has two power 4 wins with an absolute gauntlet of a schedule coming up that should have several losses. PSU has played one real game and lost at home at night with a white out so the computer is wrong as well.
Georgia has a win on the road against Tennessee a top 15 team that you left out
Just judging on what's happened thus far, it will be interesting to see the teams shuffling around and moving up/down and in/out of the Top 10 in the coming weeks. This past weekend shows me that anything is possible, that any supposed power can be beaten. On the horizon are a few potential surprises and upsets:
--- Texas vs. Florida
--- Vanderbilt vs. Alabama
--- Penn State vs. UCLA
--- Miami(Fla) vs. Florida State

Penn State is a 26.5 point favorite against UCLA. Thats an upset I dont see happening.
UCLA has 0 chance against PSU. PSU will find a way to lose another two games maybe even three but if UCLA is one of them Franklin should be fired on the spot
FSU Miami is the interesting one thats realistic. The Texas FL one could happen given that Archie really hasnt actually showed hes good other than his last name, but Nappier will probably find a way to lose that game if its close

From an article from "Michigan Live" dated Sep. 26, 2022 Michigan hasn’t won at Kinnick Stadium since 2005.
