Two recent buys. After all the Indian cents I’ve imaged for Skyman and Toneddollars over the years, I’ve suddenly developed a need to gather a few with some color.
I am building two collections, one of French 20-franc gold coins that I’ve posted about over on the World forum, and one on Morgan dollars that I’ve mentioned here in the U.S. forum.
I previously sought advice on what to collect, as I want to limit my collection to no more than a single box of Morgans. Let me once gain thank those whose responded. There were many great ideas.
I decided to go with a “bookend” collection, which means collecting the first Morgans (the 6 major varieties from 1878) and the last Morgans (the 5 mint state from 2021). And yes, I know the latter are not the last Morgans, but that’s what I’m calling them.
I also decided to include the four 2022 Morgans from Dan Carr, simply because I liked them so much.
That makes 15 coins in total (no proof coins). My most recent acquisition is my first 1878 Morgan, an 1878-CC in MS65 purchased at the WFOM show in Oklahoma City.
I begrudgingly respect CAC for including 4 spots for commems in their 7070 registry. I wanted to find a nice one in OGH, and this will do the trick and fill my final slot (for now). Frankly I didn’t mind snagging this at a pretty low hammer (considering the OGH and bean) after recently adding several nice, not inexpensive pieces to both my 7070 and my slowly evolving dark side projects.
This one seems to have the “splotchy” toning typically found on these that I don’t necessarily adore, but seems a bit more subtle here, and Phil’s shot captures some edge color I suspect I’ll enjoy in hand.
Not a higher grade, but a step up in eye appeal from my former example. From CRO:
Was pretty thrilled to find this in the wild yesterday. Ya just never know what’s going to pop up in your LCS if you don’t stop in. Even has the OS (original staple)

That is sick toning @MEJ7070! Bet it looks even better in hand!

was it smart to buy a 10 Oz bar with silver at $42ish an ounce. (no) But I've always wanted one.
The bar was $450 and the other stuff was $220

Those coins look fantastic in the holders!
Completed my Saint set with the 1909-S/S FS-501 RPM. Took a couple phone shots at the PCGS table as I was sending for crossover.

Most of the above coins are tough to beat.
(I wouldn't even try!)
Great coins everyone.
I am happy though to add these two Franklins to my album set:

These are awesome. Great album coins are the backbone of the hobby and I will love them forever!
Less than an hour until I am able to see this in hand - I can't wait!
