So just have the easiest schedule possible, got it

I agree, I don't think LSU should have scheduled some of these teams.

LOL dont argue with him. He thinks only sec teams have hard schedules. The other conferences are all cupcakes(according to his delusional self) :D

If you think PSU hasnt had the easiest power conference team schedule so far than you just dont know college football. At least Maywood admitted to being a troll

Nobody is saying that Penn State hasn't had an easy schedule(please show me that, maybe I missed it), what we are collectively saying is that so have most of the other teams. It's like this every season. Maybe you just have a comprehension problem and don't understand the English language, but it is like this every year. The difference if you're paying attention is that this season when Penn State plays The Little Sisters of The Poor they beat them by 35 points. When LSU plays Slippery Rock they beat them by 17 and move up in the Poll.

    Some interesting notes:
Heading into the 2025 college football season, star quarterbacks looked like they would be the sport’s biggest headliners. Signal-callers in the SEC in particular seemed poised to become household names (if they weren’t already) — with Arch Manning taking the reins at Texas and DJ Lagway returning to Florida, Garrett Nussmeier to LSU and LaNorris Sellers to South Carolina. All four ranked among the top seven preseason favorites to win the Heisman Trophy.

Through Week 3, none of those quarterbacks rank in the top 50 of the Football Bowl Subdivision in passing yardage per game nor the top 20 in completion percentage. Manning got booed by Texas fans while playing UTEP at home on Saturday. Lagway threw five interceptions vs. LSU last weekend as Florida fell to 1-2. Sellers got hurt against Vanderbilt amid a rather lackluster start to the season. And Nussmeier may be undefeated, but he spearheads an offense that ranks 95th in the nation and scored just one offensive touchdown in the Tigers’ win over the Gators.

If they win, they will be a legit top 10 team.

If somehow the Big 10 ends up with more teams in the Top 10 and eventually the playoff than the SEC, I think the folks at ESPN will have a brain hemorrhage. :p

But it's a long season, a lot of football yet to be played.

The good news is you really did not say that... The bad news is that you wrote it.

All joking aside... There likely will be multiple leads changes with no lead being safe. Both teams play better in the second half. The fourth quarter will likely be amazing as has been in the past when these two teams play. Who will win? It will be a game of big plays creating momentum shifts. I suspect whoever has the ball last wins. I predict a second half shoot out with the first half potentially leaving viewers with the misimpression... so why was this game so highly touted by the talking heads?

In looking at the current AP Top 10 I was wondering who might be the first team in the group to lose. Clearly, it's going to be Penn State or Oregon next Saturday if nobody loses today, but who else might falter??

My first choice would be 9th ranked Illinois vs. Big 10 rival Indiana because grudge games are always up for grabs. After that I would expect one of these teams to lose in week 5 or 6.

    Ohio State
    Penn State
    LSU
    Miami (Fla)
    Georgia
    Oregon
    Florida State

Clemson getting hammered by Syracuse in a game that tells us just how overrated the Tigers were and just how over-ranked LSU is since their rise is based on squeaking out that season opener. Dabo Swinney might be coaching the rest of the season to save his job. They haven't really played anyone and the rest of their schedule is soft but they don't seem capable of much.

Clemson isnt firing Dabo. Hes probably got a job for life after bringing a program that was never on the national stage with multiple national titles, but they are certainly talking to him about actually using the portal hes refused to.

Gundy at OSU they will probably let him finish the season and give up on this year and have him "retire". FL, Arkansas and Wisconsin should all fire their coaches too. You could put Purdue in there but Im not sure how much they actually care.

School were terrified of firing HCs last year with all the legal rulings but now they know how it impacts them

There were a few surprises yesterday, the biggest being the pounding of Illinois handed out by Indiana. I don't think the win was a big surprise but the magnitude of defeat sure was. Both Texas and LSU finally showed some offense but then they were at home against a couple of High School teams. Both Michigan and Oklahoma lost one-score games to seemingly inferior opponents, with the Meeeesh-a-gun program looking sort of weak. Two seasons removed from a Natty and they are suddenly 4-5th in the Big 10.

    Next week should be good.

Shouldn't be much movement in the Top 10 this week. The only thing I sense is Illinois out after that loss and Oklahoma leap-frogging an idle Texas A&M into the 9 hole. I also swapped out Georgia and Miami(Fla) and won't be surprised if the voters move Oregon down a spot, for some reason they don't like the Ducks.

I always do get a chuckle how standley refers to bottom of the barrel SEC teams as powers. Lagway was garbage but yes FLs defense was very good until they got gassed and gave up. Lagway saved Nappiers job last year and he will cost him his job this year.

As for Arkansas no one can figure out why Pittman still has a job. Theyre a solid team nothing more nothing less and yes Memphis was predicted to be the group of 5 playoff team this year and is still the favorite to do so

So? They have a bottom 4 coach in the conference, and arent even considered a top 6 team in the conference no matter what the AP said.

The simple fact is they have a ton of talent but Lagway has been trash and they have a coach they should have been fired last year but teams werent firing HCs because of all the lawsuits seeing how it would impact them financially.

What saved Nappiers job last year was the potential of Lagway at the end of the season. Somehow instead of getting better he got worse. UCLA and VT already fired their coaches, Nappier might not survive the season with how hes made them a mid road SEC team at best

I saw the Illini -Duke game and the 38-0 win against Western Michigan. There were signs that the running game and offensive line needed to improve and that simply has not happened. The Indiana loss should take Illinois out of the top 25. I think it was ESPN did not rank Illinois at the outset of the season, Seems they were correct.

Looking ahead to Saturday and everyone getting into their Conference schedule it's clear that the quality of the games will improve. It's almost as though the "shake-out" from the pre-season polls is over and now we'll get to see the true identity of the supposed best teams. The games I'll be watching for the outcome are:
--- Ohio State vs. Washington. Buckeyes should win but closer than we think.
--- LSU vs. Ole Miss. LSU should win but an upset wouldn't be surprising.
--- Tennessee vs. Mississippi State. Tennessee all the way.
--- Oregon vs. Penn State. Could be a classic, I expect Oregon to surprise people.
--- Alabama vs. Georgia. Alabama in the "upset" special of the week.

OSU should win easily. LSU Ole Miss flip a coin

Allar still hasnt done anything to change my mind that hes one of the most overrated QBs in college. I think Oregon wins that and is probably in control most of the game.

Bama Georgia, Georgia struggled against them when Saban was there but hes not anymore and Debour has put the Pac 12 west coast softness into the Bama program

Illinois traditionally has not matched up well against USC- The last Illini win was 36 years ago. I remember watching it on TV- Illinois rallied from a 13-0 deficit to win 14-13. Both teams were ranked at the time and oddly enough both teams went on to have good seasons. I don't see an Illinois recovery this week, but I would like to be wrong.

I'm taking Illinois for the win. A SC team playing at a midwestern team at a noon start, is usually not a good outcome for the traveling team. As for the Buckeyes, no road game three time zones away is easy. Maybe against UCLA, but need to come out early and not let the Huskies hang around.

Gundy out doesnt really matter for this year but a little surprising they didnt just let him finish the season. He really should have been fired in the off season. I honestly cant remember a program falling that was consistently good to very good and became trash so quickly

Franklin basically always loses to ranked teams and its their first real game of the season.

For Georgia Bama, GA generally struggles with Bama even when Bama has a crappy QB like Milton or a bad HC like Deboer. Most of GAs losses the last few years have been to Bama. Bama basically tries to hurt them in the game. Last year they took out Beck and the GA punter who was basically the best in the country.

If Gunner gets hurt GA is in trouble. Thats a game I will never bet on. Just way to much unknown if Bama is going to start playing dirty if they get down
