An official honor created for VIPs who helped found the Dominion of Canada in 1867. 50 silver pieces were made for the Fathers of Confederation, 500 bronze were awarded to prominent individuals, and a single gold was made for Queen Victoria (it has vanished). This came with its original box and is absolutely pristine. Usually even the best of these big 3” 19th century medals have spots, stains, or friction. Not so with this one. Truly exceptional. Sending it to PCGS ASAP.

the 1957 nickel will have to go back to CACG and be relabeled a Nickel and not a quarter as a mechanical error in grading (believe mechanical error is the correct term)

I found this 1909-S VDB in a OGH too much to resist. Should go well with my newly CAC Lincoln 1914-D MS64 RD in OGH. What appears to be a die crack on the obverse running from above the R to the second 9 in the date was a bonus and interesting.

I was happy to win this one today. This used to be my primary focus (Bust Quarters) I was obliged to sell them back in 2015-16. I’ll never get back to the set I had, but this is a representative example on the cheap. I won it today at Stacks, a very pleasing (to me) wholesome coin that Steve Tompkins owned, it is plated in his book on the subject.
Very happy with it. I could have stretched for an XF or AU, but this one seemed to want to come home with me.
Interesting coin. Part of the famous Raymond hoard found in casks under a railroad station platform in Georgia in the late 1870’s. Consisting of over 500 coins, all 1816-1820, it’s unknown how or why they got there or why they were stored there. These crude conditions resulted in most of these being heavily spotted. Luckily, this one escaped that fate & is a nice, problem free, fairly graded example.

My first cherry pick (aside from 60-D SDs)! The 1954 S in my childhood nickel collection is an S/D.
Finally pulled the trigger on the “right” no motto seated dollar for my type set.
New 67+* half to go with the Morgan. Let’s see how far I can go with the 67+*’s
Coin #16 of 18 total in the 1890 mint set.
Also posted in a separate thread, this low mintage 1881 Shield Nickel is my newest acquisition. Only 68,800 nickels were produced that year.
