It’s Saturday Night, with a belly full of beer

Well it Friday night, but what’s the difference? Just bought a coin out of the Stacks auction that was fueled by alcohol. Who’s done that before?

Hope you don’t hate that coin in the morning.
I can be dangerous in night time auctions much to the delight of the consignor.
Enjoy your buzz, Catbert!
I do it by accident all the time. I don't drink enough to be able to blame alcohol. My Stacks purchase yesterday was an accident, I didn't expect it to sell so cheap. But I also wasn't planning on buying a $750 coin. I was just marking the coin with a low bid. OOPS!!

I do it too often. Usually I get outbid, but some of my favorite “impulse purchases” have occurred this way. Of course 1/4 of the time I regret it and start planning an exit strategy in the morning, but I’ve bought some really great coins when I wasn’t afraid to press an extra bid or two.
What was the coin, and what was the beer? I’m partial to stouts, Seated Liberties, and British coins myself.
Happy Saturday! I mean, Friday. What beer? All Day IPA over here. 🍺
Coffee stout is very nice

Or something like that. I hope you love it in the morning!
Inspired by @Catbert's buzzed bidding bonanza, I'm now enjoying one of the free beers I grab out of dumpsters at boat landings. Unfortunately, it's a Michelob Ultra, which is less filling than water.
The consignor said next time drink some hard liquor.
Sounds like you “got a little action in “….old coin guy style, of course!
A drink in one hand and a mouse in the other has probably been the recipe for a lot of regret since Al Gore invented the Internet.

I still have Seated Dollars that I do not remember bidding on 5 years ago. Thanks to Stacks and Whiskey!
I hope it wasn't the half dime restrike I wanted. Whatever it is, I hope you enjoy it.

Yup. Woke up one morning, for the life of me could not remember what I bought. Just a nagging memory that I spent more money than I should have. Wound up with this:
I don't drink anymore, but I live in Michigan, so sometimes on the weekend I lurk around eBay after I eat an edible. Mostly I lose track of time staring at photos, analyzing the surfaces of whatever I'm into at the moment. Sometimes I remember to bid.
That’s what I’m talkin about. Cheers 🍻

You could have done a lot worse. Only 29 of that one were minted. And it is gold.

I think the Stacks pics might be more accurate than CACG’s?

Really nice Catbert.
You know Dan, I'm glad you still have taste when you're drinking beer!
So many bad things can happen otherwise.
Like starting to drink Bud Light Platinum or something.

You could've done worse like wake up with a hangover and find a strange woman in your bed.

I’ve done this many times! It’s a double rush!! I usually don’t regret it.
Based on your image I think you did the right thing! Enjoy (the beer and the coin)!!
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I’ve become irrational bidding on coins on my own. I don’t need alcohol.
I bought quite a bit in a Monday night HA auction sipping wine at 9000 feet after skiing all day and partaking in a happy hour. I was very happy with the coins I purchased but I wasn’t exactly thrilled with the prices I paid the next day.
Sounds like a party while it lasted!
God comes first in everything I do. I’m dedicated to serving Him with my whole life. Coin collecting is just a hobby—but even in that, I seek to honor Him. ✝️
The key is assemble your watchlist sober, and do your bidding with a good buzz. Some of my best coins were bought this way, "liquid courage" it's called.

I was thinking along similar lines. Nice spin on "...possum in a sack".

I did get a little nutty on Saturday night and ended up buying this coin. I let it slip away 2 years ago at Stack's so I paid the idiot tax, presumably with @Catbert 's blessing.

Yeah, there's nothing quite like charging a hill while you're more loaded on the bubbly than flush with cash. 😆

. No alcohol involved though! At least it’s something on my coin bucket list!
