ANACS has changed hands several times since then so no idea who currently owns the intellectual property/patent on these holders. Does the tooling still exist? Does the manufacturer still exist?
I agree if the current ANACS owns this design, it seems like a no brainer to revive as an option.
As an aside, I don’t believe coins currently in these holders are covered by any guarantee.

Pic from 2014 - all ms Jeffersons, now sold. I liked the fact that they could be stored in ordainary 2x2 coin boxes.

I would assume that many of these OWHs were picked through for upgrade opportunities much like other slab vendor old holders. As such, it would be a mistake to assume that those that remain are consistently undergraded.
I own one OWH holder and love the slab design. I imagine that the resurrection of such a holder might be difficult due to necessary counterfeit prevention features.

I’m not a big fan of them. In my primary series I’ve been mostly unsuccessful crossing them with PCGS saying they were cleaned. My sample size is too small to draw any meaningful conclusions but that’s been my experience. I certainly wouldn’t buy an expensive coin in an OWH with the expectation that it will cross or it’s undergraded.

Yep, what I saw was either properly graded, or slightly overgraded, or had an old cleaning with retoning that may or may not pass muster with PCGS nowadays. And any approaching undergraded was usually labeled and priced as such. I think that’s what frustrated people; they were hoping for fresh meat, and back ‘o Bid prices, but left sorely disappointed, with some of them pretty vocal about it.

I believe my very first expensive (for me anyway, at the time) early federal coin, 25 or so years ago, was a beautifully toned 1802 half dollar in an early ANACS soapbox slab, vf20 or 25….? Gorgeous coin, If memory serves it was from JJ TeaParty. Sold it, like an idiot. What I’d give….
Other passions include golf, Moto Guzzi motorcycles, and Euro motorcycles in general.

I like the old ANACS small holders. I've had really good luck purchasing what I thought were under-graded coins and then cracking them out and having them graded by PCGS. This is my best example. PCGS gave it an MS63 grade. How's that for an upgrade? An AU58 to an MS63.
But this one, although it came back at a higher grade, I wish I hadn't cracked out. The things we wish we hadn't done.

I love the old ANACS holder. My first certified coin was in an old ANACS holder. It was an MS64 1913 Prussian Defeat of Napoleon 3 Mark commemorative. Nicely toned. I think I sold it to a board member (I forget who. I wanna say cacheman?) while I was still young and hard up for cash. I wish I still had it.
I will say that generally coins in the old ANACS holders tend to photograph well, except if the plastic has started to get a bit cloudy.
I now only have one old ANACS slab. It’s part of my Canada type set.

I like them quite a bit. Over the years I've had quite a few nice coins in those little white slabs.
This is the only one I have now. I think the designation is neat and will never crack it.

I am surprised no one has said this yet so here is my opinion.
The slab size of these old white ANACS holders are appealing to me , and I like the look of certain coins.
I cracked a $10 Gold Liberty MS61, submitted it to PCGS and got a MS61 grade - that was accurate although I like hearing undergrade stories)
I cracked a MS63 Cu-Ni Indian Cent submitted to PCGS came back details Cleaned.
What I noticed , and still stands out to me was the horrible smell that came from the slabs when I cracked them open,
Furthermore, it is my humble opinion that the slab ink is reactive to the coin as many of the white coins will have toning closest to the barcode. It could be temperature related , humidity barometric pressure or whatever Im no expert but in my mind this doesnt contribute to the stability of the coin.
That being said I have about 5 or 6 of these slabs left, most MS60 with various levels of tone and would add more to my collection with the condition that they not be cracked and appreciated for what they are.

Two days ago I posted two old ANACS holders that I cracked out. This one I picked up at a local coin show back in February of this year. And although it's a solid MS64 and has a good chance of jumping up to an MS65 if cracked out, this one I'm going to keep in its ANACS holder -- as I should have done with my 1891-CC Morgan.

The old "soap bar" ANACS holders are okay. I treat them as a tiny bit more than raw coins.
I did pay big bucks for this one, however, because of the coin it contained. It was probably a mistake, but I wanted to minor gold type coin. ANACS graded it EF-45.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?7 -

They just feel nice and solid especially with a heavy coin and they look cool. Flipped this one recently.
Edit to elaborate a little further they put more emphasis on the coin and less on the holder which inturn makes the coin more presentable.
