The official Philadelphia Eagles 2025 season thread

stevekstevek Posts: 30,401 ✭✭✭✭✭

AI Overview
The following season, NFL Super Bowl winners have diverse outcomes, but a significant portion, about 30-40%, miss the playoffs, while many others make it but don't repeat their championship. The difficulty stems from factors like injuries, key player departures to free agency, and the increased motivation of opponents. Some defending champions, like the 2021 Rams, can even have disastrous seasons due to significant injuries to star players, while others, like the 2020 Chiefs, can make it back to the Super Bowl.

Another problem may be Saquon Barkley. He had a magnificent previous season with 345 carries gaining 2005 yards. Not debatable, the Eagles couldn't have won the Super Bowl without him.

Barkley is only 28 years old. However he's got a lot of mileage on those wheels. Especially from last season. How he will hold up this season is anybody's guess.

With all the various factors involved, I'm saying the Eagles chances of winning this upcoming season's Super Bowl are iffy.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,401 ✭✭✭✭✭

All that being said, I am sure about this. The Eagles are the only NFL team this upcoming season with a chance to win back to back Super Bowls. Even though it may be a bit of a long shot. We shall see.

    Go Eagles!!!!!

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,401 ✭✭✭✭✭

Eagles opened at -7 at home against the Cowboys. Of course in the NFL, there are no "must win" games in the first game of the season. However the Eagles really do need to win this game, favored at home against a very beatable Cowboys team.

Hurry up already, I'm tired of waiting. 😉

I've watched a lot of football in my time, and what Jalen Carter did -- and the timing of it -- is one of the stupidest stunts ive ever seen pulled on a football field

    I knew it. 😒

    Stay classy Philadelphia! Hawk Tuah?

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,401 ✭✭✭✭✭

That's what we wanna see. 👍

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,401 ✭✭✭✭✭

Not a big surprise what's going on out there.

I ain't worried about it. Cowboys should run out of gas sometime in the second half.

The zebras just cheated for Dallas with a bogus taunting call. The league wants to make Dallas “America’s team” if it can.

Hope they don't have to keep relying on Hurts to do the scoring with his running. Lots of wear and tear on him. It's a long season.

    The Eagle’s defense is disappointing.

I'll take a tie score going into the locker room.

Hurts plays intelligent football out there

he just looks like a guy who will make the right decision every time and not turn the ball over

If the Eagles’ defense shows up for the last minute of the half, you’ll have better than that. Still, the Eagles should be doing better than this. Washington is going to the big threat.

Hurts used to sometimes get in a bad habit of making some very ill advised passes which were picked off. Hence my earlier comment.

Jalen has improved markedly in not doing that any longer. 👍

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,401 ✭✭✭✭✭

How about a miss for stevek. One time.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,401 ✭✭✭✭✭

I'll take a 1 point lead going into the third quarter.

Eagles will begin with the football.

a win over a division opponent is always a good thing

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,401 ✭✭✭✭✭

Next game, Eagles-Chiefs two Sundays from now.

My guess is there won't be any mention from Chiefs players of a Chiefs three-peat. 😉

Tough and gutty win, I really believed it was going to be a tough game

Eagles look good, Hurts is a tactician with probably the most calm demeanor of any QB ever

The network covered the events as they should.
During the ceremonial raising of Philadelphia's Super Bowl banner/pennant, the home team was not present. The Philadelphia Eagles were huddled in their locker room.
Who ever made that move, I salute you for your integrity of the game and the NFL.
I did notice 3 blue and white uniforms, ON THE FIELD, during our Philly Thing. WHY ?
This game can be summed up like this.
It's 4th and 4, using a long count. Who's gonna flinch first, and get caught.
It's now the, Philly Won Thing, again.
    Yo !
    Get off my lawn !

A good win for the Eagles...

Carter spitting on Prescott after the kickoff was beyond bush league. He gets tossed and took a key player away from the Eagles. He should be fined a substantial sum for his stupidity. Amazing how they're always sorry and remorseful after the act. Hurts played a great game.
