August Pickups - Sultry Summer Scores?

I usually prefer PSA for graded cards, but 1973 is not a registry set for me, as many of my nicest cards are raw. So nothing wrong with an SGC slab when the card is this beautiful….as long as I make sure to keep it in a separate stack. 😂

Nice start to August!
Wow - that 1973 Buddy Bell card is fantastic! The SGC holder really makes it pop.
Here is my addition for August - the rookie card of 'Stretch' McCovey. I had been looking for a mid grade one that presents well and did not have the stray ink or fish eyes that I've seen on many of them.

@BaltimoreYankee
Nice Stretch!
How do cert numbers work with SGC? Both the McCovey and Bell were graded in the past few months, but have wildly different certs.
No idea about the cert #s. How can you tell when they were graded?
SGC’s cert lookup page has the grading date included.
Found this on Facebook:
I have wondered why SGC doesn't have cert #'s that run continuously upwards as submissions come in similar to PSA. Well, I finally reached out to SGC for the answer to the question.

The answer that was provided by Brent Martin (SGC): The computer generates a cert # that assigns them at random. The logic behind it is added security to prevent forging new labels and copying.
And no, they cannot manually input a cert # that is vacant currently. It must remain computer generated at random.
Pickups from the National as well as a couple of MBA labeled updates from Chicago.
Been looking to add Live Mike for a while. He'll look nice next to his brother Jolted Joel.
Back from the National, I was able to add a little to several different projects I'm working on. Here's the haul:

Got this back from PSA today. I love the multi-auto cards.

Post national pickups last night. Paid strong on Sandy but felt it looked under graded and liked the eye appeal.

Keith…
Nice eye appeal on Koufax and Bench RCs!
The Koufax definitely presents better than most 6s I’ve seen of that card, including my own. I agree with the grader who argued the Bench was a 7 and I don’t think anyone would draw blood over the minor corner wear if it was in an 8 holder. Lots of under-graded gems out there.
the 1956 mantle and 1960 mantle psa 4's are off the chart. Of course the 1956 psa 8 -- says it all.
I had this "unattributed" water color framed - have been cleaning out old mags and much to my surprise I found the pic in an old Beckett that appears to be where it was taken from (I'm sure if I check, I can find this pic on the net?).
Thank you for the nice note Monte.
Really nice looking pickups Keith.
In light of the incredible 53T Mantle with great eye appeal - you did the same with these - especially the Mantle and Koufax.
Hope you enjoyed the National - did Keith come with you - how old is he now? Any pics?
Thanx for sharing buddy.
@KendallCat - Hey Keith hope you are well - you got some Dandy's!!. GORGEOUS CENTERING!!!
Keith outstanding pickups. Koufax looks incredible for the grade and that JB rookie looks as good as a lot of 8's I have seen. Well done.
Mike/JB/Uffdah - thank you all for the kind words. Fortunate to find a few decent cards the last week or so.
Mike - Keith Jr will be starting his junior year at the University of Kentucky and majoring in Sports Management and Analytics - time sure flies.
I almost never buy SGC, but the centering on this extremely rare HOF first card (sticker) was too good to pass up. I've wanted one for years and finally pulled the trigger. For context, highest graded examples of this card are a pair of 3's and for total pops, PSA has 13, SGC is 5 and Beckett is none.
