After doing some research, it has been determined this is likely the only mint state 1879-CC Capped Die remaining in a rattler holder. Paid $25K to pry it from the prior owners hands knowing I need it to compete the full set of CAC Morgan’s in rattler. Now down to 14 coins left to finish the entire set with varieties as reported by PCGS in the October issue of 1989 report.

    Cheers

    What happened to your finger..................
    Great set you're building
    Keep us updated

Installed a fireplace in March of 2024 and fell through the attic while checking the last screw on the cold pipe that vents outside. Stepped off the boards to check the screw, and I slipped off the joist. As I fell through the ceiling, I reached to grab “anything” and ended up grabbing the aluminum plumbers strap that was holding the vent pipes.

Unfortunately the ER doctor couldn’t make it in that day and scheduled me out six days. All tendons severed. Operated on and five months later fingers not working. Wife went with me to talk with him and he says “I have to be honest with you folks, I’m a knee and hip doctor. You should have gone to a hand specialist.” Apparently while trying to fix my hand he cut a flexor tendon, pinned a joint that shouldn’t have been pinned and didn’t pin one that should have been. Found a specialist and I’m four surgeries in. Last surgery scheduled for October to transfer a tendon from my wrist to my pinky. None of my DIP joints will work again. My middle finger has a screw in it etc etc.

Best part is, I had to argue for months to go back into the attic to get my tools down but I have them now.

Huge mistake that day but good lesson that mistakes do have a cost to them.

I won’t post a photo because it will ruin the thread but it’s not pretty for sure.

    Sorry for the long reply

    Back to coins.

Sorry for your long and arduous ordeal. Wishing you a better prognosis for your future surgery. I’m recovering from total tears of my rotator cuff and 4 additional procedures in that shoulder. Anyway my question to you is: in the picture of your 1795 dollar the label says it’s a Draped Bust dollar, which it certainly isn’t. Did you buy it for that reason or just got lucky no one noticed it before you did? Congrats on a nice Flowing Hair dollar, which most certainly is the B5 variety identified by the gouge line behind Liberty’s hair. Zack.

Wonderful 1879-CC johnny010! You have a fantastic set of rattler Morgans. Sorry about your attic experience. Your early type is also very nice.

    RD Beauty:

Even at this grade level, 1900 IHC’s are available in RD. This example is highly lustrous with no appreciable marks + it’s VERY RD! And, with a bean bonus too.

One has to wonder how this was stored all these years. Beauty!

Looks like it. Even crazier to think about it. Key date plus variety in MS
