1981 opc psa 10 schmidt sold for $1,250 last night. I bought one about a year ago for $500. Big movement. Really tough to find reasonably priced OPC star PSA 10's.
1975 and older 8's and up are drying up fast (stars and rookies).
having collected the 1978 opc set -- i can tell you that its very difficult. in the last 5 years about 6 psa 10's have come to auction that i didn't already have and have about 80 or so. if you review ebay, there just isn't enough opc's to get a complete set without waiting for years. it took my 12 to complete mine. and back then there were a lot more inventory than today.
I agree 100%. I have the #2 set behind you. I never intended to start the set but found a PSA 9 Sutton at a card show for $5 back in 2017, thought it was cool for the price, and picked it up. I found a few other HOF'ers on the cheap on eBay shortly after that and then sort of eased into the set. Although I'm at 100 percent, I've been trying to upgrade six PSA 6's for months. I have a few that I submitted that received 7's a couple of days ago that are in the mail back to me. I still need to upgrade four 6's to 7's or higher (Lee May, Ruppert Jones, John Mayberry, and John Candelaria). I gave up waiting for graded versions to show up on eBay and have been submitting a few here and there. The problem is not only is it difficult to find graded cards but decent ungraded as well. They just aren't available in any kind of numbers. 8 years and counting for me.
Thanks, olb31. I really appreciate the offer. I'm waiting on a second sub that has at least two out of the four I need. If ok, I may contact you in a few weeks depending on the outcome.
I have a bunch of self-submitted PSA 10 1978 OPCs that I haven't paid much attention to lately. Perhaps it's time I did.
I've noticed 70s cards in general have risen in price for higher grade examples even those with higher pops. PSA 9 1975 minis that were barely worth the cost of grading them a few years ago are now hammering for very healthy sums.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
@waxman2745 said: @craig44@olb31 I agree with you guys that the PSA 7 was a good deal. The 1968 OPC Ryan is the King of OPC Baseball cards. A raw one with soft corners and a stain on the back sold for $2,500 the other day.
I wonder if the sales price for that raw one would have been even higher if they had listed it as 1968 in the title instead of 1969 and therefore presumably had its listing page populate on more shoppers' searches?

I think so, perhaps $3k. I did not see the listing until after it ended. I was searching for completed sales and found it then. I also wonder if the stain under Ryan's winning percentage played a factor in the final price. I could not tell from the scan if it was a wax stain or other type of stain. Still a nice card at a good price.

Looks great but I recently sent in 26 cards for review. I examined every one of them closely. They bumped me on one.
How much does PSA charge to review a card for a potential bump?
It’s the same price as grading as you would select on the service level. If the card does bump you may also be subject to upcharge based on “new” estimated value.
I’ve had a low percentage bump from in holder review and I’ve received feedback from grader notes that they could not be sure of a bump because the card was in the holder. Much better chances of you crack it yourself and submit for grading, but then you also risk the min size monster.
It’s nice to have an accurate flip but no one should care what PSA graders think plus or minus a few grades. It’s a crapshoot.

When you crack and resub, you also risk your PSA 7 turning into a PSA 5.
I just stick with buying graded cards - I'm not too concerned about the grade # as long as I enjoy the card.

Was tracking that OPC 8 - strong price.
Anyone think my 7 is worth a bump review?
I don’t think PSA is fair with 71s in general. For other issues you see all kinds of corner wear in PSA 8, but for 1971 any hint of white at a couple of corners gets you a 7. I considered having my Topps 7 reviewed because I feel it should be an 8, but I know they will not bump it.

I think that price for the Brett is a very good one. I need that card. Had I been paying attention I probably would have been in on that one.
I need to stop looking at ebay for a minute though. have to be a good boy for awhile!

Newly graded? That’s an amazing card. Congratulations!

Tom what do you think the 71 Thurm would fetch? My guess would be 25k+?
Tom...stop teasing us!!!!
Wish me luck, sending this one in. Bought last fall and just now getting around to sending in.
yeah, I would guess well above that honestly

the centering is quite nice on that opc brett

Wasn't the Murray in a recent Heritage auction and didn't sell?

both seem very low
The centering on the Evans kept it lower. Looked tilted.

PSA brutal on ‘62 and ‘71 Topps but for some reason does not carry the same strictness into ‘55 Bowman.
Yeah me too.
The 6 Nolan ryan was a solid sell.
should be a 7.5 at a minimum.
That's a stunning 7 PaulMaul....
Gotta say I am happy with my purchase of a 1972 OPC Reggie Jackson PSA 9 last week for under a grand.

SOunds like a nice card. I don't have that one in my 1978 OPC set.
