Hey, if anyone is putting together a set of VF quarters, I have 3 dups. All 3 nice even darker gray surfaces. Ill move this to the BST if no one wants them here. Would love to trade for a quarter I need.
@sedulous said: @JeffMTampa Jeff, that '92-P BQ is 🔥! I love the way that edge toning plays near the periphery of that reverse.
Here is another re-image. A 1900-O Barber Quarter in NGC XF45. Where do you think the '00-O sits in the overall relative ranking of rarity for the BQ series? middle of the pack? more rare? or more common?
Tim
I've been looking at this date and some others for a better date type set. I think if you judge the scarcity of the coin as a date it makes the top 20-25% of the series. For MS-60 or better maybe top third. This is from PCGS Coin Facts, the pop report and the Barber Coin Club numbers.
In mint state, after the 01S, 13S and 96S, what are the next tier(s) of rare Barber quarters? 09-O? 97-O and S? 98-O and S? 99-S? 01-O? 07-S? 14S? Just looking at the price guides, these are the next level expensive.

Forget the price guides and focus on the PCGS populations. In the MS64 - MS66 range the 1913-S Barber quarter is the third most expensive coin; yet, ranks as #29 in population.
I would say the '01-O is slightly overrated or maybe I have seen too many available in recent years. I might add in CAC '05-O's to Dave's list.
Here is something you don't find too often sitting raw in your LCS... with a slight cameo and decent luster. Not the greatest date but a pretty cool find nonetheless!
1915-P Barber Quarter (let's call it UNC Details) due to what I see as some slight horizontal wiping left of the Eagle's neck.

You are the expert when it comes to circulated Barber quarters. The 1901-O population rank in grades MS64 - MS66 is #3. It's not an inexpensive coin; but, it's actually slightly undervalued. Grossly undervalued when compared to the 1913-S, the third most expensive Barber quarter with a population rank of #29.
Went to Summer FUN Thursday afternoon and again this morning, first show I've gone to since Mike Hayes passed away. We used to do Summer and Winter FUN together, the friendships and shenanigans off the show floor were always the highlight of shows. Saw lots of nice coins today, and several barbers with that dark blue rim toning that Mike lusted after. Happy to be jumping back into the coin game.

I added a few nickels tonight, but this one might have been my favorite!
Looks like a Type I to me. High, mid-centered
@DisneyFan
Still looking and I examine coins as I find them. Great thread of option candidates from all of you! varieties@barbercoins.org

A great article about collecting "Circulated Barber Quarters: Key & Semi-Key Dates" by Greg Reynolds was

A great read, thanks for sharing the link.

1894S NGC VF20

1893 NGC VF20

1892O NGC VF25

Those are nice examples, Doc. Really love the look of that 93-P.

Here is a newp, a common date, but one I needed. ANACS AU58 Barber Half:
1909-P Barber Half ANACS AU58

Here is another newp for your week. Graded by an alternative 3rd party service:
1909-S Barber Quarter NGC45

A Barber Quartet is made up of Nickels, Dimes, Quarters, and Halves.
I just realized I didn't have an image of this coin so I captured one today:
1900-O Barber Quarter PC30

Then, I have this other one:
1900-O Barber Quarter PC30

Here is a test, which one of these two is similar to the one listed at GC right now?

It's the first one you posted that's similar to the one at GC.
Here's one that's not quite as similar, but close.

And another that's almost similar to the second one you posted:

They’re all different- hub varieties!

I'd say 01-O, 97-S,98-O, 09-O, and 14-S
Dave
Dave the same can be said for those dates and mint's in EF-AU

One of my more favorite coins from a quality presence standpoint:

Nice one Tim! I like the die clash evidence on both the obverse and reverse. You know it's hammered when you see the shield lines in her ear.
...Going through my Barber halves, I realized that this is my favorite coin.
That's an iteresting one, @Barberian

Going through my quarters I think this one has the look that I love the most.
Here's the 2nd most awesome Barber in my collection. From the GotTheBug collection.
