But yes, 64+ DCAM CAC with rich original toning, coin is borderline gem but probably wouldn't look out of place in a 65dcam holder. Pop 1/3 at pcgs, this color on proof gold drives me nuts.

AU55 CAC, CAC pop 2/2 with 61 being the highest with CAC approval. There’s many of these out there in low unc holders that essentially are the dipped version of this coin. This one is the crustiest and most original I have seen, personally.

Dan, how come the cert don't work?

New cert, holder Was ratty and I wanted a TV so had it regraded since the cost is the same as a reholder when the guide is over 100k , $300. Coin has the detail of a 58, thought maybe they'd 55+ it but the coin isn't bright enough evidently...Hasnt been back sticker land yet.

After picking up my jaw from my desk, I'll go with an MS63 this go around. Those have to be a bear to grade, given the period, and the crudeness(in a good way)in which they were made for their community/region.

Ok, sorry everyone, I meant to do the reveal earlier but I played down for a nap that went longer than expected.

I actually haven't seen either of the one's I bought in hand yet, but I plan to add the AU-53 to my collection. Based on the photos, it's one of the most attractive examples I've seen, and it looks like it's conservatively graded. What's interesting is that these 3 examples were all graded together, and with a range of XF-45 - AU53, one might be a bit surprised with the narrow variance. The 53 has one of the best strikes I've seen, these often have a misaligned strike and have substantial weakness near the rim.

I will post a thread when I have the coin in hand, and give a thorough opinion with pics and videos, but I probably would have guessed no less than Au-55 or 58 if playing GTG, and I likely would have under guessed on the third coin. Interestingly, they decided to holder the 53 the correct woriantation, but the other two were photographed and holdered with the reverse facing forward, which seems to be a common and unpredictable practice with pioneer gold.

Grading of Mormon could be especially difficult with the wide variance in quality, and the coins have to be graded by their luster and fields more so than flatness on the high points. PCGS shows only two coins in unc grades, one in MS-61 and one in MS-62, and CAC has not approved any above AU-58. Trying to grade these coins from photos is a fool's errand I suppose, and I understand why there would be plenty of guesses all over the map. Thanks for playing, and @johnhenry9009 you,re up .
