It looks like nobody started a May acquisitions thread yet so here goes.
I just got this 1973 OPC Mike Schmidt rookie card. Not the greatest left to right centering but nice corners. This will be a nice compliment to the SGC graded Topps Schmidt I acquired last month:

    Here's my copy of the true Ron Cey rookie card, which will actually set you back a few bucks as it is a high number. And no, that's not THE Bernie Williams (this Bernie also has a 'rookie' card in the 1971 Topps set).

    Oglivie was quite the player too. Dude had some pretty great years.

    Nice to see him show up on that new doc they just released about the ‘82 Brewers team.

    I don’t know, I’ve never seen them noted thru SGC or PSA. I’ve wondered myself.

    What are the three Feller variations. Maybe I am just unobservant but they look the same to me. Seem cropped the same. Couldn’t spot any differences in uniforms or cap. Is it something on the back? Thanks for the education.

    EDIT - kept looking is it the two squares at the top above his head — none on the first, big on the second and small on the third - or those could just be reflections.

    That’s the variation. I’ve never heard why it was, I guess just a printing glitch.

    I did find a blog on line that suggests it was a printing glitch that was corrected over time, hence the stages of "squares".

    "The variation on the 1948 Bowman Feller relates to 'windows' at the top center of the card. Most of the time when you see the card it has no white shapes, like card #1 above. Due to some sort of printing problem, the card can also be found with two white windows at the top. The windows also come in different sizes, as can be seen in the other cards shown, and this is probably due to the problem increasing in size gradually, as can be seen in cards #2 and #3, and then stopping at a point like card #4.

    The Trading Card Database recognizes three variants.

            5a      Bob Feller      VAR: no white slashes or boxes on front
        5b      Bob Feller      VAR: Two White Slashes on Front
        5c      Bob Feller      VAR: Two White Boxes on Front
