Photographed and captured on video from Earlier this Friday Day -
Watch this Alaska Railroad Rail Tie Straightener in operation as it uses laser technology to identify the portions of the rails that need straightening:

The above photo was taken on March 27th, a clear day.
Comparing it to the above photos may make it easier to identify the portion of the Alaska Range in which the Mt Spurr volcano is located. (Mount Spurr is the tallest of the visible mountains, and just little to the left of the overhead airplane.)
I grew up in Michigan and have been to these dunes numerous times. Also, it is a long trip to the lake Michigan . The fun is rolling from the top to the bottom of the dunes.

Photos of Sydney Laurence into and after the 1920s when he devoted his primary efforts in Alaska to painting rather than photography:
The unexpected finds one comes across going through the archived photos:
"The Spa" was Anchorage's only swimming pool from the mid 1950s until 1972 when high schools began having swimming pools. It was where I learned to swim and when the Great Alaska Earthquake made it unsafe to use our high school gym for P.E. we were bused to other locations for P.E. classes including a bowling alley and "The Spa." Demolished in 1983 it remains but a memory.

And also this Friday the Volcano Eruption Watch continues now into April with an ironic twist.
Instead of a cloud of volcanic ash over Mount Spurr, a huge billowing white cloud "erupted" over the volcano.
