Thought someone might catch it - there is a connection between the above two posts. Both contain items that were on the premises of the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition and remain remain available to view today.
The first being the first steam engine locomotive pictured which was on display at the fair and the second being one of the 500 or so Pan-Pac Octogonal Slugs that were sold at the fair.
If one compares to the Museum's logo, the three different, but similar, steam engines on display at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, it becomes evident that they choose a silhouette of the one that was in the Pan-Pac Exposition.
Added trivia, the Panama-Pacific commemorative coins were the first commemoratives to be minted at a branch mint (San Francisco.)
The other point of trivia is that these were the first commemoratives to have "In God We Trust."
Also, just checked the second edition of "100 Greatest U.S. Coins (the Pan-Pac $50 coins are ranked #26) and confirmed that 645 is the number of Octogonals that were sold at the Exposition with a likely survival rate in the range of 80-90% getting it closer to the suggested 500 figure.
It was fun to just learn that one of the steam engines I had previously seen at the California State Railroad Museum had been at the same exposition as several of my coins from that same exposition back in 1915.
If I can easily get access to it from where it is locked away, I will try to eventually add a photo of at least my $50 Pan-Pac Octagonal.

I do like getting into the cab of a steam engine, even if it's only on display.
