Is there an online research source for old red books? In particular I'm looking for prices from the 1963 edition.

Thanks to all

I have a complete year set of the books. I don't have most of the varieties. If it's just a few prices, I can give them to you.

Thank you. I am curious if such an online resource exists. But rIght now it's just a 1907 Eagle Rolled Edge in "Unc" and 1895 Morgan (Proof of course ;-) )

(Yes I have been watching old Dennis the Menace episodes and I'm truly curious if the prices mentioned in those episodes - $250 for the Eagle and $500 for the Morgan - are realistic for the time or just a script writers imagination ;-) )

    Thanks again

The 16th Edition of the Red Book, which has 1963 on the outside (published in 1962) says $700 for wire edge with periods $10 gold and $1,500 for a Proof 1895 Morgan Dollar. Common date $10 Indians are listed at $42.50 in Unc.

Sorry, you wanted the rolled edge 1907 $10 gold. That one is listed at $1,950. There are only 42 of them.

One of the problems with prices for rare pieces at that time was that they were speculative. Yes, the book might say $1,950, but was one available for sale? They were not always available.

Thank you. Kind of thought the prices "quoted" in the Dennis the Menace episode were low even for the time. Though I'm sure accuracy wasn't important to the scriptwriters, but having a price that would seem like "significant" to a early 60's suburban retired collector without being tooooo large would be....

    Thanks again

Here is a search on Internet Archive for A Guide Book To United States Coins (one could change the search and maybe find some more). These are limited (very limited) viewing but states to login and borrow (use your free account to borrow this book and gain access to all the pages). I don't have an account so I am no help with that.
