Thanks for the up date. I cancelled my subscription last October, but will consider having it reinstated, once their snafus have been ironed out. I'll check back in April for any changes
"Bongo drive 1984 Lincoln that looks like old coin dug from ground."
I wrote to them a few days ago asking for an update. I got a reply this morning:
"The weeklies are currently on hold, we hope to resume shipping them very soon. Unfortunately, at this point, I do not have an exact date, we anticipate restarting the printing in late April or early May. "
So, at a minimum another six to eight weeks, not counting time in transit. That's a full six months of shutdown. It's sad to see this problem persist for so long after 60+ years of them reliably serving the hobby.
I had renewed my subscription in September, literally just before everything fell apart. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and hung in there despite lots of failed promises for when deliveries would restart. I finally gave up the other day and asked for a refund since I've only gotten 3 out of the 24 issues owed me since September. Today I got a reply saying that weekly publication is "anticipated" to restart at the end of April -- did I still want to cancel? I responded:
_Please cancel and refund. I've had endless promises of anticipated deliveries over the past six months. None have come to pass.
It's now March 22. I have yet to receive the March issue, which should have come weeks ago, in advance of the cover date. Any ads or auction reports will be long out of date by the time it arrives.
Adding insult to injury, I was very disappointed to find that all of the feature (non-news) articles in the February monthly issue were reprints dating back to 2016 to 2018. That's just sad.
I'm sorry to say that. As I've said before, I've been a loyal subscriber for many decades. But my confidence is gone. If things get back to normal, I'll happily resubscribe. But for now, I'm out._
It truly is sad that they had to dig into old issues to find copy to flesh out the March issue. Clearly they've lost some writers and are scrambling to find articles to fill space.
It’s a shame, but I think the printed version of “Coin World” is gone. I called them, and the representative evaded the issue. My subscription has been extended, but there is no indication that the printed version is coming back. It’s like our local newspaper. It’s on the computer, and they do publish twice a week, but that’s it.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
" For the last few months, Coin World has been reprinting my old columns. I stopped submitting new material in November after they fell 4 1/2 months behind in paying me. So, after 16 years of uninterrupted productivity, it looks like I may need to find a new writing or consulting gig. I'm open to any offers or suggestions. -- Mike Diamond "
It's all indicating a business that is likely failing, very sad for me to say so. It continues in a downward spiral, and will probably keep deteriorating. They obviously need money, not being able to print, not paying contributors, laying individuals off, etc. So, as subscribers get frustrated, disappointed, cancel... even less money coming in, and the spiral gets even stronger. A black hole.
At this point, it will likely take a buyer with deep pockets to come in.
While I agree a “trend” is to read things online, most of my generation prefer and insist, if possible, having hard copies that we can read in hand, including the daily newspaper and magazines. Not that my intent is to “cut off my nose to spite my face” in choosing not to read these things online, but for whatever reason, I won’t make the effort. As such, I don’t read Coin World online, my local newspaper, the WSJ, or ANA’s “The Numismatist” online (other than @FlyingAl ’s two great research articles).

A day without fine wine and working on your coin collection is like a day without sunshine!!!
Numismatists have access to an exponentialiy greater amount of information now then when Coin World was a full-fledged newspaper. Mostly on the web. I know people do not want to hear that on this thread but that is the reason print struggles.
Thank you for your patience in waiting for Coin World weekly magazine to resume printing.
We're writing to share good news with you. Coin World weekly is set to resume printing with the April 21st issue.
You can expect to receive your copy by mail during the week of April 21st.
As previously communicated, we've extended your subscription proportionately to account for the lapse in printing:
Your new subscription expiration date is now: October 20, 2025.
I was about to undo my cancellation (I still haven't gotten the promised refund) but then I noted the "extended" subscription date. I had subscribed late last September, for a year. Since then I have missed over 6 months of weekly issues and 3 monthlies. They now propose to extend my subscription to October 20, 2025. Approximately 2 weeks longer than the original expiration.

I'd leave the cancellation in place as they have obviously shown you they are neither reliable nor responsible, so why would you bail them out financially while at the same time getting less than you paid for? Some companies are just bound to fail eventually and you should let them fail.
Closing out my chapter in this saga, yesterday I did receive a refund check from Amos Media for my canceled subscription. Ironically, the same mail brought a copy of the April 21, 2025 weekly issue -- the first weekly I've seen since last September. I guess that was in process before the cancelation was put in. I've only glanced at it, but it looks like there's only one recycled article from years past, unlike multiple reruns in the monthlies. Then again, there's only 36 pages in this issue.
Just speculating, but maybe the extension is in addition to the refund. So, for example, if you canceled 6 months into it, then maybe they extending the part that had passed by already.
just received my print edition of coin world dated april 21 I really missed it I did not like reading it on line I like to hold the magazine in my hands was delivered in a clear plastic mailer I am glad it's back

Many have moved to the digital CDN dealer app.
@ReneR , when you say they’ve “lost” some writers, I read earlier in this thread from one decades long popular writer that they’ve laid him off!

Why buy into online articles subscription when they are just recycling old material ?

That’s terrible one can’t get the printed CW magazine anymore. The new world of tech has nerfed a lot of things.

I see the March edition on-line as well. I had hoped to get a printed version as it includes my 1st article on counterfeits for Coin World...

I got a response this morning to my request to cancel:

Let's see what happens... and see what the issue looks like. Hope they can follow through and keep the publication going!
So you missed six months of weekly issues, and they are extending your subscription by only two weeks????????????
How nice of them!

Certainly that is one take on it. But... at this point.... take whatever you can get!

Went to the Coin World table at the Central States Coin Show today and picked up a copy of the March 2025 magazine with my article in it.
Coin World has arrived for the weekly copy for April 21,2025 and April 28,2025.
Re established my weekly & monthly print issue subscription. Thanks for the heads-up.
