I hope it’s endless
.
So much complaining lately about beautiful (mostly) original surface gold.
The more prices come down, the more I can collect!
Agreed. I have my eye on a scarce date coin. It's not as scarce as it was a few years ago... hoping I can snag it for a nice discount!

Is that you, Doug Winter ?
Let us know how it turns out, please !
Stacks should merely disclose what’s coming. Withholding information is widely known as a detrimental, and frankly in 2025 should be considered unacceptable.

Thanks Brother, for helping me get dialed in on that one too!😉😂
Agreed, flood the market crash it all. Nothing like crusty old gold at bullion prices. RGDS!
Even if bullion prices are insane currently
11.5$ Southern Dollars, The little “Big Easy” set
It’s not only stacks selling the hoard. Other companies are not labeling them Fairmont.
The "look" can be spotted elsewhere, though I have not seen the rarer branch mint offerings elsewhere. But maybe I am not looking hard enough.
i've been seeing commercials on tv saying "buy this old gold hoard, only 400 of this coin. limited!" I had no proof they were fairmont until I saw the name in a background image. I think we're up to different offering #5
Keep them coming. Great original coins. Just what I like to collect.

Yes, absolutely keep ‘em coming. What a bonanza for US gold collectors!
And kudos to Stacks Bowers for professionally handling this massive boatload of treasure.
30+ years coin shop experience (ret.) Coins, bullion, currency, scrap & interesting folks. Loved every minute!
I just got the catalog for the Fairmont February auction in the mail. One thing of note is that Brian Kendrella states in the introductory note that this “Riviera Set” is the final set of Fairmont coins that Stacks Bowers will auction.
The half eagles (what I collect) are down to the nubs but there look to be some higher grade coins in the higher denominations. All FWIW.
"Look up, old boy, and see what you get." -William Bonney.
The auction is ongoing so I don't want to name the specific coin (DM me if you are interested), but I put in a bid on a somewhat scarce but not rare branch mint half eagle right at Greysheet. I am leisurely putting together a MM set of no motto half eagles but it's not a priority so, if I got this for a good deal, great, if not, I'm perfectly happy to wait.
I was outbid yesterday. Who knows where it will end up but it won't be a screaming bargain regardless.

"Set"
Not individual coins...
When they are done selling, when there is no more market impact, I really hope they will fill-in-the-details on the origin of the hoard. Don't need names, but just the basic outline.
For many of us, the story behind the coins are as interesting as the coins themselves.
Doug Winter has an article in the CDN Monthly Greysheet discussing Fairmont pros and cons....but also stating that as of February 2025 Stacks-Bowers has COMPLETED the sale of this monstrous hoard/collection.
Maybe some of you have heard that too, any discussion welcome. I'll assume Doug has good contacts at S-B and in the industry and must have heard it confirmed from multiple sources to go out on a limb like that after many predicted the end of sales many times since 2018.
They specifically stated THEY were done with the hoard but they did not confirm the hoard has been entirely dispersed.
So no more auctions....but they have some lower-quality stuff they need to move ? Is that it ?
BTW, who said they were "done with the hoard" -- SB ?
Yes they stated that would be S-Bs last Fairmont sale. Beyond that ???.
Stacks Bowers announced in January that the Riviera Set as part of the February 2025 auction would be the final set of coins from the Fairmont Collection, see article linked below...

I think the end of the auctions means that they still have lower-priced low-numismatic premium coins and maybe some very worn ones available. But the most valuable coins have been moved.
the cheap melt stuff could go generic anytime in a pm auction they do
A few months ago, when I was over-striking $5 Native-Head gold pieces, I ordered about 20 "VF" grade coins from one of the largest bullion dealers. When the coins arrived I noted that they were fairly nice for "VF" grade and they had a distinct "Fairmont" look to them.
By definition, not all the coins in a (Fairmont) hoard can be rare. The rare coins were auctioned. The bullion coins are moving through other channels.
