SHARING A FUN-FILLED DAY AT FUR RENDEZVOUS - ANCHORAGE ALASKA'S WINTER CELEBRATION, ALSO KNOWN AS "FUR RONDY"
The day began with a spectacular rare view of Mount McKinley (f/k/a Denali) along with its sister Mount Foraker as seen looking across from Anchorage's Small Boat Harbor with the Cook Inlet's Tug there moored.
The highlight of the morning was the annual Fur Rendezvous Parade. This was followed by the Fur Rendezvous signature event, its Sled Dog Race which this year required truck loads of stockpiled snow to be hauled in to cover the multiple mile course since we have had a snowless February.
Then it was on to experience the final day of carving for the Snow Sculpture competition. This was followed by a robot demonstration put on by Dimond High's Robotic Team in conjunction with shared Anchorage Engineers Week.
A final stop was at the Midtown Mall to share a viewing of the annual Fur Rendezvous Photo Competition.
Below is a link to the just posted YouTube Playlist that includes each of the above more specifically listed here. Separately yesterday's encounter with the TV News Personality made it to the Evening's Broadcast, although my cameo background walk by didn't make the final cut:
I remember this well, had a good friend that worked there and he would make me the first ever triple cheeseburger for lunch. Raced up from school and back in under 30 minutes and for 50 cents. Many years before McD had even the double cheese burger. Memories. Kingsport, TN 1964

My Ride at work. TORO Groundmaster 3500 D, this is a Rough Mower, three cylinder 13hp turbo diesel with a 5 foot cut width. It can handle a 30 degree slope and the blades have a one foot slide capability. It takes two days to cut all 18 holes on a large course. That’s what 35 grand buys.

My first posted YouTube Video from 16 years ago:
Posted by Curtis he titled the video “Brian and Tammy vs Curtis and Mom Filmed by Dad on Flat Island off Kailua Beach.”
I filmed it with a VCR camera back when YouTube was a far cry from what it has become today in terms of picture resolution.
In the video two Kayaks collide and occupants are thrown into the ocean.
