1860 S Dime

Dear US coin collectors and enthusiasts,
recently I was offered a 1860 S Dime and would like to hear your oppinion about this coin.
As a German I don't know that much about US coinage, just some bits and pieces from metal detecting videos on YouTube.
Recently a woman in my area sold a collection of mostly German coins she inherited. Amongst them was also this particular Dime wich immediately caught my attention. Eventually I payed her melt value for the German silver coins plus 35 Dollars for the Dime.
What I would like to know:
- is the coin authentic or do you think it might be fake?
- if the coin is authentic, wich grade would you put on it?
- if I I ever wanted to sell this coin, do you think it's worth sending it in to a grading company first?
I apoligize for the bad quality of the pictures. Tomorrow I will try to take some better photos as soon as I have good natural light.

Looks authentic to my eye. I would consider sending to PCGS in Paris.

I think it is worth 10 times what you paid.

Thank you Bob!
Here are two more pictures:

...but it will cost 4-5x what you paid to get it slabbed.
Nice coin! Amazing that it is in that condition after a trip over the ocean!
Authentic, F-102 die variety
EF-40
If you had it slabbed, there is a good chance it will be called "cleaned", and they will not grade it.
Cleaning? I see a pocket carried, commerced use dime.

Why would you expect the coin to be in any worse condition after a trip over the ocean, than if it had remained and circulated in the U.S.?

That's a real nice pickup. I spent a couple hundred for my example last summer and that one was a few grades lower.

Quick update:
I sold the coin for 300€ (315 Dollars) plus shipping. Supposedly it will go back to the US. I sold the coin because I needed some money torwards a gold coin I want to purchase in the near future. Probably I will post a picture of the coin when it arrives, but to be honest many of you will think that it's quite boring because it's quite common...
Did you ever get it graded or sold raw?
Nice deal for you. It looks like a solid XF piece.
I sold it raw.
Congratulations, excellent find! That is a gorgeous coin and definitely not common at all in that grade. Most of the early San Francisco mint coinage circulated very heavily in the Western US and is quite rare in high grades today.
Amazing deals on US coins definitely do come up in Europe sometimes. I was browsing Ebay once last year and found a lot of two coins posted from the Netherlands for $300, with one of the coins being a cleaned, but authentic 1795 half dime. I purchased the lot, it arrived as described, and I later sold the half dime for $750.
"You can't get just one gun." "You can't get just one tattoo." "You can't get just one 1796 Draped Bust Large Cent."
Neat coin, great story. I’d pay $650 as is.
