2024 was a slow year. Think I only picked up 5 or 6 coins.
This one is definitely my favorite for the year. The eye appeal is just off the charts on this one. I like it better than my 64.
How is that 1911 just a 62? So much better than that, IMO. Have you thought about resubmitting or crossing over?
There's a rim issue on the reverse at 10:00 that might have knocked it down a couple of points. Also, there may be some hairlines that aren't showing up in the pics. It's still a great looking coin.

@allnewsanchor yes…PerryHall is correct. It is the rim that knocked it down. Also a small hit on the cheek. Otherwise, a spectacular Eagle with clean, slight orange peel fields.

I noticed the rim tick, Perry. Did not see any hairlines. But even if there is/are one or two... should that knock that beauty down to a 62?

Hairlines are definitely a grading factor and its impact on the grade will depend on the severity, location, and the judgement of the grader. I think that rim bruise on the reverse is what brought it down to a 62 but overall, that is a very attractive coin.

There are some really fantastic coins posted here! My collecting budget is fairly modest, but I do enjoy the hobby tremendously. I've been adding a few old coppers, and started collecting something of a different sort recently:
2024 was the most productive year for me. I consolidated much of my collection into just a few pieces. Trying to get a set of earily dollars and started it strong with this flowing hair. I also wanted one ultra cameo dmpl morgan and I think I found the one I'll keep for a while. Looking forward to FUN to ring in a new year!

My favorite acquisition was this 1839 Gobrecht Dollar. I really wanted to acquire a nice 1793 Chain AMERI. Cent, but I quickly found out that a six figure sum can't do that any more in this market. I bought this instead for a good deal less. It's lead to a great deal of interesting and reward research, which I would like to make into an entertaining artcle to be published somewhere.
I also acquired my first Montgomery Confederate note. I don't know if I will get any more, but this got me started.
Bill, that Gobrecht is just fantastic....Yeah, that would be a lifetime highlight for any collector I think! Beautiful coin.
@Coinbert I remember watching this coin a few years ago, maybe on HLRC? I don’t really recall the site.
I was itching to pull the trigger, hemmed and hawed as my mom would say, and then “poof” it was sold.
Always regretted it, and it taught me a lesson - if you can’t stop checking on it, just buy it.
I made huge additions to the Merriam Collection this year in the merchant token department, but as those are rather plain, I think I'll show these beauties. Hard Times tokens from the Howell Works, here in lovely New Jersey. Really some of the nicest examples Ive seen in my years of looking. From the Robert Schuman Collection:
Dead Cat Waltz Exonumia
"Coin collecting for outcasts..."
My Classic Head Half Eagle set had taken a back seat due to very few nice coins coming to market. That all changed when a collector decided to sell off a near complete set of Die Marriages. I was lucky enough to get 8 of them as well as the 38D from a different dealer. Here are a few that I have photos for. I never expected to be adding R5 and R6 coins to the set.

I immediately thought Carr as well, but the look threw me off...I always picture his coins as flawless BU, but this one had many little marks in the surfaces? PS I am a fan of Carr's coins.
Bought on Ebay ($300 purchase) a graded (very dark) AU coin, (that I had strong suspicions it was an MS) cracked it out, dipped it and sent it for grading again (different company)......came back ms64 and sold for $3800.
Merry Xmas everyone!!

Hopefully he or the OP will pop up to clarify. I thought the same thing regarding marks in the field. But I think the coins were overstruck on real T$s...maybe this one was lightly struck and a lot of original surface abrasions survived? Or maybe @Bullsitter or some prior owner used it as a pocket piece?
@lermish Yup, you were right, it's a Carr creation. I bought one of these from him a while back. Had to send in a low grade Seated dollar, and got this back in the mail.
I mainly collect Lib. Half Eagles these days, but I used to dabble in seated silver. I like this look in circulated 19th century silver for some reason. Gerry Fortin had this on his sale list a couple of weeks ago, my last coin purchase for 2024.
I'm a sucker for 1839-o halves, that obverse mint mark,
and those die cracks are pretty extreme as well.
I know these are not most people’s line of interest, but having never seen one before and being able to purchase 2 this year just made my year.
2 off center with a straight clip Buffalo Nickels.
The 16 came back MS64 and the 35 is out for grading.

@Legacy It doesn’t get much better than the 1856 proof Flying Eagle with the pedigree!

2024 was a pretty good year acquisition-wise. If we’re only doing one, this pop 1/0 65 Red Booby Head is it:
However, this OGH PR67 is right up there:

Some really neat coins in this thread. 2024 was a net downsizing year for me, but I did pick up a handful, with these two the best.
Władysław II the Exile, Denar, 1140s. So tiny, yet detailed. Similar but smaller and better made than a contemporary English penny.
1711/2 Taler NGC 63. This one may be my favorite of the year.
My current "Box of 20"
I'm impressed!
Two large checks and a stack of Benjamins in exchange for some American Gold Eagles and Presidential Commemoratives.

While not a pick up, this is a collage of some of the many coins I was lucky to image this year.

These are my two favorites from the whole year:

Purchased this from David Perkins at FUN. Very few gold CAC early dollars.
