Did you acetone the cent or anything? THat looks a million times better than the seller's pictures.

Still not sure that the coin is original to the holder. Look at the flattened out obverse rim at 3 o'clock and the corresponding damage to the reverse rim at 4 o'clock (they line up because the dies are rotated). There does not seem to be any corresponding damage on the adjacent aluminum.

Here's a thought. The coin was supposed to be struck into an earlier holder but the strike failed and the coin was damaged. Rather than waste it, the manufacturer just put it in a new holder and struck it into that.

Please send me copies of your full front and back pictures.

    Thx

What was your opinion of the VERDI-CARE treatment?

It worked great! Had the eBay picture looked like this I would have bid on it.

I don't usually mess with or tamper with coins, other then acetone.

I use it sparingly but this VERDI-CARE seems to work great on old copper.

I’m afraid to look at the seller’s other lots. My computer might burst into flames!

    The fine print:

Stock Photo Listing Policy. Coin/s shown are stock photos of our inventory unless an item number is indicated in our title. In that case the item number represents the exact coin/s shown will ship.

    Buyer beware.

    CaptHenway,
    Just a heads-up,
Some of the eBay links can be quite lengthy.
To cut them down, or to add more than one link without taking up too much space, simply copy everything that is before the (?), then paste it...
    Let's try it here...

Thanks for your exceedingly impressive contribution to Numismatics, much appreciated!

A package has been received. It could not have been more interestingly packaged if it were kept in a mayonnaise jar on Funk & Wagnalls back porch since Noon today!

    Outer bag with amazing sticker.

    Closeup of outer sticker.

    Inner cardboard envelope.

    Inner box.

    Bubble wrap.

    Invoice with another interesting sticker.

Bubble wrap opened with tinfoil wrapped slab inside.

    Obverse.

    Reverse.

All in all a decent, properly graded coin that I am happy with. I just thought that the amount of packaging for a $200 coin might amuse you, especially the outer sticker!

The sender appears to have some USPS experience.

I for one appreciate the care the sender used. I once sent a coin on here carefully packed as a gift to a member (years and years ago.) He complained that I made the package "too difficult to open." Huh.
