The Sticker Trifecta

The CAC+EEPS+CMQ Trifecta has been achieved on my FE type coin. I’m hoping to get it upgraded to a 58+, as PCGS has only certified 11 coins in that grade across the entire series. If you have a Trifecta, feel free to post it.

If PCGS gives it a +, they will have to reslab it and you'll lose all your stickers. How much will it cost including shipping to send it back to PCGS, CAC, CMQ, and EEPS and is it really worth it just to get a +?

Collect the stickers not the coin
It would have been funny as hell if CMQ put their sticker over the green bean.

Yeah, collect the stickers and forget about the coin. I think the OP should submit the coin to PCGS so it can upgrade to MS60, lose the stickers on the slab and fail to qualify everywhere again. You know, a win-lose.
If one wants to own the best Everyman FE, yes.
Easy to select the “plus only” upgrade option, so that’s not a worry.

@POCKETCHANGE: I like what you’re doing Eric. If you do get the +, that’s more important than the stickers (at the very least you’ll get the EEPS again regardless). Not many 58+ grades & those are a big deal in Everyman.
I like the coin a lot & don’t think I’ve ever seen the 3 stickers before. I know I don’t have any. Good luck - hope you get the +….

Does PCGS award extra points to whoever has the most stickers on their slab?

That's true but you'll lose all your stickers and you'll have to pay postage for three round trips including insurance costs to get those stickers replaced.

I typically drop off coins to those services at shows, in which case I’d only be charged for return shipping.

Not yet. Perhaps the sticker registry is on the horizon. Crazy world. RGDS!
I have seen AU58+ coins sell for 65 money.
Don't do it. The coin will sell for what it is and it's in a 3 sticker slab which will raise its desirability to some future buyer. Wait a few more years and the TPGS will be calling AU coins MS-64 rather than 62!
Can you remind me the company that is grading the stickers on slabs
Is is slab stickers grading company

Nice example! One can only speculate what a plus graded coin will realize. Below is a rare plus graded seated dollar I was very pleased to receive from CACG.
Sorry, but looks like a great coin as is.
Oh dear lord....
Send it to QA coins and go for a quadfecta. LOL

You own some very nice coins @PocketChange ! You've posted about a few of your proof 20 centers that you like that have failed CAC review. So, what is it about this coin that drives your wish for reassurance? You said you want the best everyman FE, but does overlapping opinions of the coin prove this? Not sure I'd agree with that assumption.
I'm trying to understand your motivation.
Then again, @winesteven 's Indian cent collection with CAC and EEPS stickers was a focus for him too.
Then again again, I have an obsession to build an Indian quarter eagle set with only OGH with CAC. Perhaps I need to ask myself why!
@Catbert thoughtful comment and questions, thanks for asking.
I bought this FE with the CAC+EEPS stickers already on it. I had another CAC’d AU58, but Rick rejected it (free evaluation at a show), and I value his opinion on this series more than JA’s, so I replaced it with this one.
I had tried to get the other one into a 58+ holder, unsuccessfully. Figured I’d have a better shot upgrading a coin with both CAC+EEPS, and that adding a CMQ sticker might slightly improve my chances on a Reconsideration.
Why seek a PCGS 58+ CAC+EEPS FE in the first place? I just think it’d be cool to have the “best” Everyman FE in my set, and it’d be rewarding to “make” it myself, in the same way it’s exciting to get an upgrade or a gold CAC.
Will I be successful? Probably not. Is it, for me, worth the $50-$100 expense to try? Yes. I’m not planning on reselling the coin, so I’m not looking at the profit/loss the way others tend to do here.
Re: your QE OGH+CAC pursuit—my guess is 1) the added challenge [you could probably buy a full regular holder CAC set in a week], and 2) to end up with a set that’s a bit different/special. Both are elements of my motivation too.

If you were to get the 58+, would you resticker it three times? It wouldn’t tell you anything you didn’t know and if you aren’t reselling it, is it worth $100 and 3x shipping risk to have a coin with three stickers on it?
Yes, I would have it restickered by all three services. It would feel incomplete to me otherwise.

Perfect 1858. Are you telling me if it had zero stickers you would pass on it or wouldn't enjoy it. But only with the stickas are you interested in it? Tell me that ain't so. I guess the koolaide is muy tasty
I’m not telling you that at all…I certainly didn’t say that. Believe it or not, it is possible to appreciate a coin’s inherent merits AND to appreciate a range of expert opinions on that coin. The two are not mutually exclusive. Or do you only buy raw coins?
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
I typically buy all my coins in holders and with medals it doesn't matter. The holder doesn't matter and the sticka is a plus. I ignore all plusses and stars on the holder due to its ridiculously subjective motives and meaningless purposes. Any holder is fine because its all about the coin and a sticka is an added welcomed bonus

Many members including myself choose a different style of collecting. I'm old school, although the vast majority of my collection is encapsulated and I have much respect for J/A it's mainly about the coin.
Let the op enjoy his style of collecting, he seems to have a healthy passion for collecting.

Congratulations on your results! I hope you achieved whatever it is that you were seeking to achieve.
I imagine in the not too distant future, this hobby will borrow from the pharmaceutical industry. Instead of peeling back adhesive labels to see dosage and other drug information, we will be pulling back labels or perhaps an entire adhesive window to see the coin (after having cleared precious slab real estate for more stickers).
Pretty FE cent by the way!

Checking the pops, only 3 coins graded AU58+ and 178 graded AU58. Aren't your chances slim getting the + bump? And it adds only $10 to its value.

If only you had sent that coin to PCGS in the mint sealed box you could've also had a First Strike designation and that American flag tag.
Your hobby is supposed to be your therapy, not the reason you need it.
Yes, the chances are slim, but I believe them to be higher than other AU58 FEs given the confirmation of quality by multiple services.
I strongly disagree on your estimate of the potential value difference. There is a niche market for 58+ coins, especially with CAC approval.
In fact, I’ve already had more than one unsolicited inquiry about buying the coin if it makes the upgrade, although as I stated earlier, I’m not planning on selling.

Not my estimate, shows in the PCGS price guide. But you're right about a niche market where sales aren't reported.

Some hilarious comments here but I do congratulate you @PocketChange for handling the jokes well and having intelligent discussion points.
In the registry game for many of you who appear not to understand, the + matters and the logic here of having multiple professionals state it’s solid for the grade definitely increases the odds of getting the plus.
PocketChange,
are you concerned that if it got the plus, cac will not recognize the plus and just recognize it only as an au58 once again
"Not my estimate, shows in the PCGS price guide."
Your statement seem to imply that because PCGS lists a price for plus graded coins they are accurate.
There are many PCGS plus coin prices that are not based on actual sales data.
CAC gives no acknowledgment to the +. So any coin that gets a CAC at any grade that subsequently gets a plus later…will automatically qualify for reapplication of the sticker.
It’s at best a $500 coin. If you want to spend another $200 in regrade and stickers, go for it. It’s a hobby, so do what makes you happy. Just don’t consider it an investment.
With a sense of humor, it needs a QA sticker too.

CPG for a 58 CAC is $750. The coin previously traded in a DLRC auction at $700. You must have skipped the comments, because I already made it clear that resale profit is not the primary motive.
