They SURE do like the number of zeroes on the check.
I wonder about authenticity of game worn material based on matched photos…seems somewhat subjective and difficult to me. Also…I do not like nor collect autographs since it seems to me to be easily faked.
I've been able to photomatch a bunch of hockey jerseys and a number of NBA jerseys. Of course it is much easier with the number of photos and video now. Not sure how many photos exist of the Ruth but I would need 100% concrete proof if I had 30 million to spend.
For an item like that Ruth jersey, as a buyer I'd crave provenance over subjective photo matching. The New York Times/Athletic today ran an article on how one service chose not to match it, but others did. One that did was also chagrined in the past on that Jordan jersey debacle.
Not a good time for that Athletic article to come out.
I steer clear of game used memorabilia and autographs…too hard to authenticate.

Initially...I failed to see the black print line across Allen's forehead and part of bill of his cap. Others/bidders must have missed it too including the grader. I checked my PSA-8.5...and mine does not have it. If you cannot see it...click on link below for a zoom in.

You mean Allen's forehead and hat.... It's an old flip, so probably would have been a 10 without the lines!
Wow, strong price for that card. Glad I picked mine up when I did. Mine does not have the black lines.
