1922 No D Cent -- COunterfeit or altered?

If this is counterfeit it's a pretty good one. I am leaning towards altered, but would appreciate other opinions before I report it.

It's not the "No D" variety with the strong reverse. The obverse is way too sharp.
If you look at under the magnification option, the surfaces are full of chunks of medal. I'd say it's a straight up counterfeit.
The obverse, although grainy, still looks altered, and the whole thing looks too good. LIBERTY in particular doesn't have the joined (or close to) letters R and T. I always considered that as another clue to authenticity.

My take is an overseas counterfeit.
It seems mushy in the wrong places such as the TY in LIBERTY. Also appears slightly grainy to me with possibly some raised marks on Lincolns face.
Also noticed various expensive counterfeits in the sellers sold items, so suspect they know exactly what they are doing.

Just noticed a different 1922 with the same face marks and TY in LIBERTY in their sold items.

I do not think any part of the coin is a US Mint product.
It really pains me in a significant way to write what I am about to write...
look at the color, the grade and then ask yourself... Why would anyone sell/auction this coin raw?

Agree - several coins look fishy. And for a dealer with such eclectic wares, one wonders how they come across these problematic 1896-S and 1913-S quarters. AVOID

"IN GOD WE" has stronger strike than it should have. The "L" in Liberty is not riding the rim.
Something is off with Lincoln's jacket and also his neckline towards the back; too pronounced.

I can tell you one thing @braddick. With the exception of the DI being shot and killed, every aspect and scene of the "Full Metal Jacket" boot camp, was my book camp to an absolute tee! The vocabulary, body language, the cadence, the barracks, everything! When I first saw the movie, I was mesmerized and in shock. I couldn't believe what I was watching. It was like I was watching a LIVE boot camp scene! I'm thinking to myself, this guy is a fantastic actor! At the time, I had no idea he was a DI.

It won't match what you went through, yet I do remember vividly in Boy Scouts having to carry a watermelon on a long hike in the summertime.
Of course all of use despositing our watermellons in a cold creek bed and then gorging on watermellon around a camp fire later that evening made up for the 'torture' we each endured.

@burfle23 I applaud your efforts, and that is what the idea of fair use is all about. Moreover, I seriously doubt that Coin World would mind the limited use of their articles for education, they get the attribution for the work and free advertising of the value of their publication in its entirety.
