I purchased this 1962 Topps Baseball Wax Pack 1st Series with Managers' Dream #18 on back in late 2023 as a GAI-7.5. I just received notice the pack is authentic and graded a PSA-5 (after examining the pack...I thought it would grade between a 5 and 7 on the PSA grade scale, so not disappointed with the grade). There are now only four (4) 1962 1st series packs graded by PSA.
In the 1960s...there are three (3) series-designated wax packs loaded with star power in the decade. Here are those valuable packs:
1960 Topps Baseball Wax Pack Series #4 (Mantle, McCovey RC, Clemente, Koufax, Aaron)
1966 Topps Baseball Wax Pack Series #1 (Mays, Mantle, Rose, Yaz, Catfish Hunter, Phil Niekro and Perez)
1962 Topps Baseball Wax Pack Series #1 (Maris, Koufax, Clemente, Managers' Dream, Banks, Mathews, B. Robinson, Musial, Killebrew)
I am extremely excited to have this pack authenticated and slabbed by PSA. Here it is with a red oval showing the word "Mantle".

The 2nd ever signed Jacques Plante Parkhurst card. No crease or wrinkle. Just corners. Was expecting a 5.5
The other signed Plante Parkie is a PSA 1 from 1957.
His signature circa 1960-1964 which is pre-sharpie.
Signed in blue ink on the back. No room on the front with that puck.
Only two known to exist raw or graded.
I’m buying if anyone has others.

I was slumming at Big Lots and stumbled across these beauties. $14.99 each - 20% coupon = Great Deal on a 2023 FB Blaster. Big Lots usually has value packs and hangers, but occassionally the blaster makes it through the liquidations. These probably came from a Target or Walmart that was closed down.
The lesson learned is sometimes stop by and check out the fat chicks, you may be surprised. I went in looking for a cheap date and left in love!
And I included this Al Oliver from the same Ron Cey panel since I thought it actually looked better.
Guess not....
And I was SUPER excited to find this high grade (so I thought) 75 OPC Cey.
Now I can't even look at it...
And this kinda tough sticker. The front looked really good though. It is what it is...
And this is why I'm not a fan of half grades, because you can get a grader that just doesn't give out half grades.
And, I don't know. I really didn't expect a 7. Most of my 70s OPCs were a grade lower than my pregrades.
I looked at a bunch of comps, and I really felt some of mine were stronger.
Edges look a little rough for a PSA 10 on the top card.
Please post a pickup you’re proud of so we can nitpick the condition.

A-Rod die-cut rookie, very condition sensitive. Only 74 Higher, pops are 1/10th of the non-diecut version. Seems like a bit of a sleeper to me. Love him or hate him.. I loved watching him playing with Griffey from 1994 to 1999. Such an amazing talent, but had to taint his career with HGH.

This one has had a wild ride. I am told it was in a PSA 10 slab. Then cracked and signed. I bought it from someone I frequently purchase from and the case and envelope was damaged when it arrived... Looked like someone stabbed it with a screwdriver or something.
I finished the destruction and sent it back in and it came back the same.

I was riding on an ATV when I got the 14 minute reminder on this Winfield and was surprised that it was going to go for so little and even more surprised that my bid won it.

Finally got this card without the dreaded smudge or the black mark next to Molitor's head.
