I think I've decided my preferences and if I don't win an auction between now and next week, I'll be looking around at the Baltimore show...
Given a price spread of +/- $150 between the two choices... they'd be roughly in the same ballpark...

I’m a type collector. Unless there’s a reason to get the lower grade coin (some dates have different and appealing appearances, much better color, etc) I’d get the higher grade. If the coins are identical except one is higher grade and the other is scarcer and more expensive for a given grade, higher grade, please.

Essentially just a generic coin. Keep as close to bullion value as possible.
Better the higher grade.
I voted for the higher grade common date as well, but would change my mind if the less common choice was a No Motto example.
Attractive MS63-65 common date close to melt my preference. The bigger ticket coins I tread lightly - unless getting one for a client can tie up funds for a long time.
Strong liquidity, Quick turnover / cash flow my goal.

Normally I would say go for the higher-graded Saint...but if you can find a nice MS-63, esp. in an OGH (like I did at FUN 2020), that could be worth a look.
Only common I wouldn't want in MS-65 would be the 1908 NM. MS-66 CAC or higher, yeah, but not 65 unless you find one clearly undergraded.
Like most other type collectors, common date higher grade for me.

MS 63 and, especially, MS 64 is a GOOD grade, if the piece is carefully chosen.
I'd MUCH rather have a better date in one of those grades.

i would get the ms 65 and get some of the lower grade just to have both, fwiw
I'd want the most attractive one I could get at a small numismatic premium over melt. Not so worried about the numerical grade, just an example with a look I really like.
Higher grade.
If prices and relative quality of the piece are equal, I'd take a better date in 64 over a generic 65.
I would take the common date over the lower mintage, but I'd make an exception for a 1933.

I am primarily a type collector and would never collect this series as a set. Therefore I would go for the MS+65, but you need to be very picky. Not all MS-65 coins graded coins are the same.
