Unfortunately no pics and it’s in a OGH.
A 1877 DE in MS60cac. Spectacular luster, no wear…………but 3 major contact marks in the obverse fields. I really think it’s a 61-61+ today regardless. It was definitely ‘net graded’ back in the day. I got a good deal and am not going to crack it, but it’s a great looking coin minus the marks!👍

@airplanenut, argue all you want but this was already posted to thread:

I didn't see that before I replied. Either way, no real arguing here. I agree with whatever else has been written that lines up with what I said, and I'm happy with the zero MS60 and MS61 coins I own. (And yes, I knew that @FlyingAl was making a comment about numbers--it was refreshing to see some simple math today).

    Describe a MS-60

Not a touch of wear, but the amount of hits, hairlines and noticeable rim dings are more distracting than the ugly toning and spotting that resides over the impaired luster.

“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”

  • Oops! You are correct, We cannot define MS-60 because no one agrees on Mint State. I'm reading the can of worms in your thread. I've been reluctant to post much anymore because I ran off a professional grader from a discussion because I disagreed with him.

  • An MS details coin with a pardon.
