    No, there are so many aspects to coin collecting, I find myself constantly enthused. It's a very big hobby, with many many areas of interest.

    I stay pretty psyched with my 3 or 4 areas of interest, but just about everything outside those niches bores me immensely...
    Its the only hobby i have that takes place strictly online... therefore, I sometimes find it hard not to let my boredom manifest itself as trolldom.

    I don’t really get bored with coins, but with 3 or 4 other hobbies, coins sometimes get put on the back burner.

    I can get tired of one element of coins.

    Oftentimes, when I get tired of my normal routine of hunting and cherrypicking, I'll start a new research project. I'm drafting an article on 1964 "SMS" coinage right now in fact, and that always brings me to a whole new side of the hobby.

    I am often jumping from area of numismatics to another, so I seldom get bored. I did go to the last Winter FUN show wondering about what I might find, however. I was quite open without a really set list.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    bored with coins? what? boo this man! just kidding. maybe you're just bored of ebay. do you ever try selling coins? maybe sell some coins for something different. it's educational and gives you money for other coins. or maybe just take a break and enjoy another hobby for a while.

    Like others have said, find other interests to fill the void e.g. classic cars, petroliana, redline Hot Wheels collecting, but you just never know when lightning strikes at a really nice price:

    Yes, when the coins I need for my collection out price my budget! I feel like giving up and leaving that universe.
    Of numismatics. But 59 years of knowledge is hard to let go. I try to share what I know but hard for others to comprehend a 401 class when they are still at the 101 learning level. Little league before major league.

    Can't say I ever got bored, there are so many different areas to learn from and really cool stuff from all over the world if you need a break from US stuff......and when that gets old, there is always bullion stacking. Can always find something interesting near spot and there is something about the Hefty weight of a tube of bullion.

    I've recently added early large cents, half cents, dimes, quarters, half dollars to my want list all in roughly VF +/-. I'm having fun picking up one or two from each show. Just to keep it budget friendly everything should be P01-XF.

    Yes, all the time. then I switch to one of my several other hobbys. I'm a master of nothing but I have a massive library from antiques to stars so I like to think I know a little (enought to stay out of trouble) about a lot of things.

    When my children (25 years ago) said: "I'm bored", my response was: " if you are bored, you are boring". Only said it a couple times. I've never heard them say that again. They must have realized how boring it sounds or how unoccupied they were.

    Not sure 'bored' is a good word for what happens, as if I step back for long enough, as soon as I start paying attention again, they always fascinate me, and draw me back.

    There have been distinct times in my life when I am serious to the point of a possibly unhealthy infatuation or general addiction with coins and currency ... and there are times that my focus has waned and I have stepped back, enjoying other hobbies and aspects of life. Sometimes these cycles can take years to play out.

    I am four years into a run that was preceded by a long lull of about seven years.

    I get fatigued roll-searching the same denomination.
    I looked through a couple hundred elongated pennies. It was a nice change.

    I did start a Collectors Club in my school, but the coin collectors are few and far between; most of the kids are more into the Pokemon/Yugio and sports cards.

    After reading all of the responses, I think I am going to delve back into the Darkside of coins. There is so much more variety and avenues to travel. May even try to get back to the Dalton GA show. Haven't been to that one or the Chattanooga show in roughly 15 years.

    Thanks for the comments. I've been here since 2001...lurking mostly for the last several years. I do enjoy watching the occasional dramas unfold.

    Yes. After completing a series I have sold it rather than upgrading. I now collect type only, with a broad definition that includes a number of sets. I'm now working on coins that represent US Coinage Acts, and there are many. An open-ended set is my set of foreign coin types that circulated in the US prior to 1857. These sets have required a good bit of research, which was fun, and require a good bit of looking, especially if one looks for slabbed examples. It helps to have other interests of course.

    No, but a few years ago I decided that at my age [70+ at the time] that there was no reason to be putting more money into coins so I have not bought any for awhile. Sold some and rarely peek at the ones I still have.

    No, I never get bored with my coins or my coin collecting hobby. There is so much to learn when doing a U.S. Type set that I find there is not enough time for me to do what I want with my coin hobby. Many times, I bring my coins with me when we go away for the weekend. I even bring them with me when we go away on vacation.

    There is so much to do with this hobby. Sure we can "collect" coins.
    We can buy and sell them.
    We can talk about them and share images on this forum.
    We can send them in for grading.
    We can save up for that next big purchase.
    We can research and learn about them.
    We can enjoy looking at other people's collections.
    We can go to coin shows.
    Join a coin club.
    I'm sure I have left something out.
    This is a great hobby and this is the best forum IMHO. I enjoy it here.

    I didn’t. I just came to realize that family are the people who want you in their life and are there for you and would do anything to see you succeed. My best friends fit this category much better than any of my siblings and/or cousins.
