Gorgeous 1919 FH SLQ On EBay Now. Possible Upgrade?
Disclaimer, I have no ownership interest in this particular coin. Currently bid at $1400. I saw it on EBay today and it looks phenomenal for the grade, and the OGH. I would love to own it but unfortunately my funds don’t allow. Any opinions on the coin?

That’s a beautiful coin. Outside my budget right now as well, but that reverse in particular is very nice.

The photos look juiced and I would be extremely cautious. Some of the neutral and negative feedback comments support my gut reaction.

I don’t like the dark toning on the right side of the obverse. I don't see much luster, either. The head looks pretty full and the knee doesn’t have any wear or marks, which is good. But, overall I think I would pass.

The pictures aren’t nearly good enough to determine whether the coin deserves a higher (or lower) grade.

Images may be juiced, but a neat coin in an old holder. But already at strong money.

Those images are incredibly enhanced. You would be foolish to base eye appeal bidding on those.

Be careful. Read the sellers feedback. Lots of negatives regarding enhanced photos...etc I would pass at that money.

If it was upgradeable it would have been cracked out long ago.

That seller is notorious for misleading and juiced photos. It is more likely to be lousy for the grade than nice for the grade.

If you want to sell a coin like that, you need to provide close-up photos.

It sold for $1668.
PCGS retail is $1600, so the price isn’t that unrealistic.
I just hope it looked decent in hand.
I paid $1320 for my CAC PCGS example that I purchased less than two years ago. Price has definitely risen since then.

My immediate thought was that the photo was very much enhanced, and seeing the other replies, I maintain my opinion.

In this instance, it appears that (edited) might be the case. In many others, the BOLD are far less fortunate.

I'm not sure that it is the same coin. The original pictures are not the greatest; however, the reverses do not exhibit the same toning. There appears to be no toning between the Q and the first star on the original and there is orange toning on the second coin. Also, there is light toning in the States area; whereas. the other coin has blast white. Going back to the obverse the toning is light on the first two bottom stars on the left and darker and little higher on the second coin.

Folks, it's absolutely the same coin. It is just lit differently and post-image acquisition edited differently.

JimI think that's a function of the browser you are using. I get the best results with CHROME.

The splotch above the s in trust pretty much nails it for me. Hard to have 2 splotches that much alike on different coins.

Great to get the input from everyone! I defer to those who've sharper eyes than I have. The fact that the old cert number is no longer in the database is probably another tipoff that the coin was regraded.
