Name a coin you would love to own if the price wasn't so high
Personally, I'd love to own a GEM MS65 Mercury dime in a PCGS Rattler slab with a Gold CAC sticker.
Sadly, they are always priced too high- in my mind's eye- to make it doable.
This one is priced at $350.
Who knows? Maybe that is simply the new normal and I should get used to it.

@braddick the gold CAC common coins have spiked in the last few years (2x-3x in some cases). I’ve seen some easing of prices the last six months or so but it’s still high in my opinion. I think they could come back down if those that have bought a lot decide to let go of their holdings.

My example is a coin from Kazakhstan with a low mintage of 300 pieces. The release price was about 150 and one of my contacts expected to have it around 300. He wasn’t able to get it from the mint website and now the aftermarket has pushed them to 600-650, which is more than I want to pay.

For myself I would love to own an early capped bust $5 gold coin like this one on GC currently. This is not really out of reach if I decided to sell a bunch of my current coins, but I have to admit that I'm not sure I really want to have so much capital tied up in a single coin.

I would really like to own a Continental Dollar. These have always been too pricey for my budget.
I had some hope prices would drop after it was fairly well proven they were not struck in the United Staes, and almost certainly never circulated there. However, the market seems to have ignored that.1 -

Coin is with an east coast collector I wish it will come to auction. Supposedly the coin was never certified but is thought to be proof or MS 69 by some experts who viewed it

I’ll go with something more pedestrian. My 7 yr. old daughter and I are doing a Lincoln album, I would love to have a really nice 09-S VDB to fill that slot, just because watching her excitement each time she puts a coin in is priceless, and she already knows that coin is going to be our tough get for the album.
