If you ever sell that dime, assuming you still own it, I'd love to get it somehow lol. Would partner well with the Toned 2.0 Merc I have from you.

Maybe it was a half dime? No stars type? Might be thinking of somebody else.

You might be thinking of Lakesamman who once owned the 1837 dime in the NGC black slab?

Probably. Actually Lakes is who I bought the toned dime from now that I'm actually thinking about it. My bad!

What are you hiding though?? 👀👀

What I own in NGC 2..1 slabs is shown in the 2.1 census.

I have been quiet in acquiring additional NGC 1.0 black slabs meaning not acquiring any recently.

  • Thanks Tim! Got it on eBay like 3 years ago at a very good price. Luckily seller had no idea about 2.1 holders :)

  • Hi everyone, I just ran into this old post from 3 years ago on facebook, I still can't tell if this is a gen 2.0 or 2.1 from the image alone. But I have looked up the senses for both and I didn't see this one included. I might have missed it. But this is just in case.

By the shadow it looks like a gen 2.0

  • Sorry about the Typo, I meant I didn't see this serial number in the "census". In case the admin wanted to update it.

Anyone know the current market on these? Also please add to the census

Anyone know when this heritage tag is from?

  • pcgscacgoldpcgscacgold Posts: 3,408 ✭✭✭✭✭

Just received this one today. I am now the owner so the "?" mark can be removed in the census. I will have it for a while.

My first NGC 2.0. I have another on the way  Coin looks great and the slab is pristine. Big thanks to Wyatt on this one.

I was able to pick up another NGC 2.0 slab recently.

I am not sure if anyone is updating the census but this is now mine and though it is listed it now has a Green CAC sticker. Current census shows it is not.

Here is a neat NGC 2.1 Commem. Label does not tell which commem it is. Not listed in the census as far as I can tell. Not sure if that is even being updated anymore.

I needed a Gold CAC Merc NGC Gen 2 holder for my set. A big thanks to @pointfivezero for helping me secure this one. A date/MM I did not have, a Gold CAC and an NGC Gen 2.1 holder all in one. Should arrive mid week. In the dealer photos it appears to be very close to FB. I will make sure to compare it to those that I own that are FB.

I could not find this coin in the Census report for NGC Gen 2.1 holders. This one could be added if that is still actively updated.

I've just updated the censuses. New population counts are:
    NGC 1.0: 49
    NGC 2.0: 313
    NGC 2.1: 292

I was fortunate to recently acquire an NGC 2.0 slab that is not listed on the census. The coin is a 1922 Peace Dollar graded MS-63 with Certificate number 121581003. I sent this coin to CAC for stickering along with 8 other coins. One of the other coins submitted was a 1903 Half Eagle graded AU-58 in a PCGS Rattler holder with Certificate number 9040605. The other coins were common date WLH and Morgan Dollars.
CAC processed the coins and shipped the submission back to me via USPS Priority mail out of its office in New Jersey. The NGC coin and the PCGS Rattler coin both earned Gold Stickers. I received the shipment. The USPS box had been ripped open at the sealed end flap and had been reclosed with a tape different from the reinforced tape that had been originally used to seal the box. The only coins that were missing were the two coins earning the gold stickers. All of the other coins were returned with the submission. A couple of the coins returned earned a green bean but there were no other gold stickers in the submission.
I have filed reports with the postal service, the local police department and notified CAC of the loss.
Given what was stolen, I have to assume that the thief understands that the Gold Stickers add the value to the coins and would be unlikely to want to crack them out.
I would be grateful if the forumites would keep an eye for these slabs and particularly the NGC coin if an effort is made to add it to the census.

Thank you and Happy New Year,

Yeesh, sorry for the loss. That’s insane that there may be a thief selectively picking off Gold CACs. I hope there is a cell in Guantanamo with their name on it.

Nothing is as expensive as free money.

Sorry to hear that @Prufrock322 A couple dealers have told me the shipping company employees are hitting packages to and from pretty hard these days.

I will keep an eye out. Those are two on my list so I watch for both and have your certs written on the pad by my computer. When a UPS employee took my coins they found their way to eBay about 6 months later.

@Prufrock322 - so sorry to learn of the theft. It is the worst nightmare for all of us that ship coins.

I would suggest posting your story on the CAC forum and the Gold CAC Facebook group as there lots of gold CAC aficionados on both sites.

Geeze, this is horrible. I just received a CAC stickering submission on December 27th, and it contained three gold stickered coins. Fortunately it arrived safely with all fourteen of the coins I submitted accounted for. As this was my first submission to CAC, I was anxious as it was sending my coins to CAC and then waiting for the return shipment from CAC to arrive. Knowing this could happen would have made it worse.

Just a thought, but since my package arrived safely without tampering and yours did not, they probably both left New Jersey safely. Maybe the thief is someone at your local post office or the nearest USPS distribution center.

I, too, will make note of your coins and their certification numbers and keep an eye out for the coins online and at the local coin show I usually attend.

I hope the thief is caught and you get your coins back.
