    That screw looks like it may have fallen out of a piece of mint machinery. :o

    These were intentionally done at the Philadelphia Mint around 2000–2001

    I believe there are two or three of these struck Dimes on finishing nails, and the one in the PCGS holder was the one I sold in the Chicago ANA approximately 15 years ago and then appeared in the Heritage auction six months or so later.

    I would be curious to see the coins struck afterwards and the interesting die marks that must have been left.

    It would make sense if what Fred said was the case in that they were done on purpose. If a bunch of the subsequent coins made it out into the world there would have been news about it.

    No one is suggesting that this was found in a roll of Lincoln Cents.
