Scenes from Pittsburgh ANA…

View from the glass enclosed walkway above the bourse. Looking to the left, and looking to the right. I guess it will be a big show.

Really excited for this show, my first ANA also! That is the main bourse but isn't there another separate area with less expensive dealer tables? Or was that another show that I'm thinking of?

I remember a couple previous ANA shows in the same convention center. It seemed that every day at about 5:30 there was a tremendous thunderstorm that was extremely noisy inside the convention center.

Cool! This will be my first ANA. It looks like the lighting is much better here than this recent summer Fun.

Summer FUN was like walking into a cave. It was dark.
This will also be my first ANA.

The airport is about 20 miles from the convention center. Definitely not the best location for an ANA show.

The last show I attended there, I was impressed with security inside the venue. Pittsburgh P.D. and Allegheny County deputies everywhere. None of them were small guys either.

With some things that have occurred at show in recent past, should keep up good table security and beyond even without the overhead table views.

Short ANA trip. First flight out with short hub layover went bad when lightning moved in for over an hour after boarding. Keeping it short didn't like the options and did not 'need' to be there. So cancelled trip (they actually reattached the jetway and let some of us off). I remember when I traveled a lot I would not have done that. Find a way to make the trip. Today, not. Weather cleared and nice out so time to enjoy a walk. :)

Edit: back from the walk. About 6 miles and good weather. A little warm and a little sweat. One thing, missing this trip is going to be more healthy - exercise, better eating and oh not to forgot those dinner drinks. :D

    Yep
On the concourse and flight delay. They need a maintenance crew for a switch that’s not working in the cockpit.

    Awesome.

That catwalk makes for a cool perspective, they have them at the Boston Convention & Expo Center. I like them for the likes of PAX and Comic Con etc.

Reading some of the above posts, that potential for organized theft is scary high. Perhaps it should be recommended to the ANA or whoever to have additional security up there for that reason.

While a cool view, keep in mind that you never know who might be watching from above, and who they might be working with on or off the bourse floor. Communications could include phrases like “he’s leaving the room now”, “the guy in a red shirt at table 1208 has a box of gold coins in his attaché case” and “the dealer at table 602” just left his table without locking his showcase”. Be careful boys and girls!

BTW, I took this pic from above with my cell phone, so don’t think they’ll have trouble seeing what you’re up to.

    Too true and too scary.

Looks like a set to a movie about to be filmed... Well its not the Commodities Exchange. I don't see the Frozen Orange Juice pit and Randolph and Mortimer Duke are no where to be seen...

Really enjoyed the venue - modern and clean. Airport is too far out of town, but that is the only downside compared to Rosemont. Auction lot viewing onsite (no walking down the road next to cars whooshing by!), tons of hotels to choose from, reasonable lines at Starbucks. Lots of visible security - both police and private, felt very safe. Kudos to ANA on a well run show this year.

As for the show itself, pricing at most tables felt high - market seems strong. Most dealers I spoke with indicated that sales have been strong. Initial auction results at Stacks this afternoon seem to confirm. Lots of buzz and marketing on the bourse. The US Mint, CACG and Witter are marketing geniuses - great job to all at generating lots of excitement on the floor.

Less than 15 minutes to complete my 3 submissions ( 26 coins total ) with our hosts. Never been less than an hour. Pleasantly surprised. Very busy show, lots of security. Met Charmy ( Penny Lady ) Talked for a bit. Very nice lady. Also Justin from Paradime. Super nice guy. Couldn't find what I was looking for and had a pocket full of cash but all in all a nice show.

I agree, the cab ride from the airport was expensive. However, compared to Chicago, I love all the food options right outside the Convention Center so I don't have to deal with Convention food at outrageous prices (helped pay for the cab fare). Like someone else mentioned, I'm also staying at the Omni which is ancient but, hey, the air conditioning is fine, the hotel wifi is free (unlike the Convention floor), and it's quiet, so I can live with that.
