My first thought is 64. But wouldn't be surprised with 65.

MS64 give or take a grade or two. ;)

I am going to use the grading formula that seems to work best for me. Take the grade that pops into my head first, 65, and reduce the grade down one = MS64!

    I really like your Saint.
I'm going to say 64 in the rattler. Perhaps it would grade 65 by today's standards.

Interesting grade... seems to memorialize a certain point in TPG development and the rationale today as to why rattlers remain popular while trading at a premium.

I clumsily missed the rattler signs. Would have been more conservative and still wrong. Tough grade.

There may have been hairlines or some other flaws that aren't showing up in the pics shown in the opening post which resulted in the guessed grades being higher than the grades assigned by the PCGS graders who actually examined the coin in hand. Or, perhaps the PCGS graders were just plain wrong. That's why PCGS has a reconsideration service after all.

well, grading is very subjective. i saw this coin and thought, that is a 64, easy! cac seems to agree that its better than 62. most people here guessed 64. my photos aren't the greatest, but i can say it doesn't have any hairlines...just a few spots, which you can see on the eagle on the rev. there is one of the obv. there are a few marks here and there consistent with 64. not sure why it was graded so low. either way, its just a common bullion piece, but has a nice look!

Wow, never thought 62 - even in the old holder.

You can never go wrong with an older holder plus gold cac. It’s a nice coin. I would have guessed 64 but I came on the scene too late.

A 62 rattler with a gold sticker is kind of equivalent to a 64 with todays grading standards.

Very pretty coin. I would almost never buy a coin for the slab, but that is a really cool coin/slab/CAC combination.

The coin is nicer than the MS-63 Saint I had in an OGH holder.

It has less dings for sure, so I thought it was a lock at 64.

    Go figure.

I am really surprised, but the gold CAC sticker makes me feel better.... Looks like a candidate for reconsideration or a raw submittal. Though it would probably sell for a profit based on the rattler and gold sticker. Cheers, RickO
